Bad Mane Day
Title can't be empty.
Title can't be empty.
This drawing was directly taken from a scene in the 1987 movie version of Dragnet.
LAPD Detective Joe Friday's namesake nephew and his partner Pep Streebek were assigned to investigate a series of crimes committed by the PAGAN organization. (PAGAN stood for "People Against Goodness And Normalcy".) One of those crimes took place at the Los Angeles Zoo, where a Madagascar Fruit Tree Bat and a Giant Anaconda were stolen, and a full-grown male African Lion was stripped of its mane.
"FRIDAY: Someone must've wanted that lion's mane pretty badly to pull a twisted stunt like that.
STREEBEK: Although, as mohawks go, it's not bad. It'll grow back.
FRIDAY (pointing to a group of sad children) : How do you explain that to these kids who have never seen a lion before and now probably won't have the desire to ever see one again?
STREEBEK (to the children) : Kids, it'll grow back.
(The children cheer)"
I don't know who to feel sorrier for, the criminal who shaved that lion or the lion that had to endure such humiliation. I'll tell you one thing, though: if the LAPD doesn't get them, I'm sure the ASPCA will.
In the meantime, I hope you like this!
