Hairless Quoleol
More Quoleol art, this time showing A hairless youngster. Quoleol come in many different coat types, ranging from hahirless and rex to rough and long coated. Some typesevolved mnaturally (hairless and tundra for example) and some were selectively bred for (such as rex). I just love these critters! Anything vaguely prehistoric looking just makes me happy! (I was SUCH a prehistory nerd as a child! XD)
Quoleol are omnivorous, marsupial apex predators who are female up until they mature, at which point they gain their adult sex and can be male, female or have the reproductive systems of both.
Their story is as follows:
Quoleol came to be in an alternate dimension in which evolution took a drastically different turn to the earth we know, They live on the same planet, across the same continents that we know and exist upon, they simply evolved on a different plane.
In around 2015 a lucky scientist managed to find a way to open the door to alternate versions of earth after the apocalypse in 2013, and began to undertake expeditions to collect any flora and fauna that might help the world to recover. He was given the job by leaders of the old world, who planned to kill him when he succeeded, but he foiled them by blowing up their headquarters on his last mission. Initially he had been tasked with bringing back more humans and familiar species, but that tactic failed spectacularly. The men he bought back had not seen the carnage that preceded their arrival and they tried to take over the new world by force. The animals too were a mistake, as their temperaments were vastly different from those who had evolved in our dimension. In the end he had no choice but to look into alternate species to repopulate in a last ditch effort to save the earth he had known and loved.
Of all the species he bought back, Quoleol were the one that made the biggest impact. Our world at the time was in a dire situation, with humanity struggling to clamber back from the brink of extinction, and mankind had begun to live in small settlements and travelling caravans instead of towns and cities. In the wake of the war that had caused the end, civilisation was seen as the cradle of evil and so larger, more organised groups were shunned in favour of smaller, more feral societies. Mankind once again turned to hunter-gatherer behaviour, and to prosper they needed the help of powerful, resilient creatures. Quoleol were just that. They became draft animals, hunters, and entertainment as they fought in the ring, as well as companions and guardians. They were even eaten in hard times! It is said that the more scars a Quo has, the more valuable it is. Scars are seen a sign that the animal is a strong survivor.
