With the turning of the years
Men and women seek their fears
Lightning scarce, will weed them out,
Those who always tend to doubt-
When the blackbird strikes the land.
Flying creatures, big and small,
Darkness! Darkness! hear the call.
Striking feelings come to soul
As the boulder starts to roll-
When the blackbird strikes the land.
Pathways rumble from the pain,
Puddles shrink away from rain,
Legs and hands and eyes and feet
All are found where creatures meet-
When the blackbird strikes the land.
Hands on deck, go down together,
Go down strong, go down forever.
Never give the blackbird joy
Stay firm, strong, fast, stoic and coy-
When the blackbird strikes the land.
Some will come and some will die
Taunting with a battle cry
Standing strongfast, fear without
Never heed oblivion’s shout-
When the blackbird strikes the land.
Tried and true, what you must be
Standing taller than a tree
Bravery, it holds the key
To eternal victory-
When the blackbird strikes the land.
