I've got many conservative friends. As long as people don't try to force their beliefs on me, I'm certainly of the live and let live mindset. The line in the sand is where people get hurt. When people are hurt, it stops being a philosophical discussion.

Believe it or not, french Canadian from Quebec and proud of it! We're not all separatist socialist. ;-)
And for the record the socialist parties which are the separatist partie Quebecquois and to a less extent but still socialist, the liberal party of Quebec have done there very best in the past 30 years bringing the province down by going true spending binge and growing an unbelievable debt of over 900000 billion of dollars when you add up all the cleverly hidden debt. So yea, we are in a way worst economical shape then Ontario!

It's true that our type of conservative would pass almost as centrist in the US.
You should try to move to a big city like boston, new york, LA, or san-francisco, they tend to be more centrist then were you live. Were you are right now is extreme republican religous country. LOL

BTW, I'm about an hour out of New York City in Connecticut, one of the most Liberal states in the Union, so I do pretty well here. Just got elected to my town's Democratic Committee. I may get to attend our state convention this year. Here, we have medical marijuana, same sex marriage, and we did away with the death penalty.

Agreed. Although I'm a Democrat by affiliation, there's a lot to dislike in both established parties. In the end, when I chose between twoparties, one that I hate for what it does, the other for what it DOESN'T; I
