The long fringes aren't /male/ AT ALL

I've been a fan of turians before that stupid darkhorse comic came up and erased the fringes from the female turians... let me say that's just a personal add of the artist that drew it. Not the real deal. Either way fringeless turians are impossible to exist since they've got them to avoid certains parts of their body and neck to be damaged by Palaven's strong sun.
