Here they only take your licence photo every ten years so I’m stuck looking like Grampa Jones’ evil twin for five more.

I think it's 6 years here; we used to renew at the AAA. Basically, you pay your money and you get a license.

It’s mostly online here after you initial application. Same for registration. Works out pretty good if you stay in one place and keep a car until it dissolves.

Same here. We've done away with new plates, registration stickers, emission stickers and so on. Today, you get your new reg in the mail, and you send in the stub with your payment. My old Miata doesn't need emissions testing and has a designated value of 500$ for tax purposes.

We dropped the emissions testing recently, still use registration stickers on the rear plate (I'm in one of the two provinces that uses both front and back plates). All private vehicle plates cost the same regardless of age, value or size.

We did have an issue with all the plates that began with the letter "B". The layer with the info on it peeled away on most of them, leaving a silver metal plate with just the embossed characters and digits. At first they told us to exchange them for a $59 fee but now they are trading them for free.

My sister simply used a coat of white spray paint and blue permanent marker to fix hers. Six years now an it still looks like the original from anywhere over five feet away. It even works on the automatic toll roads.

All of our cars have special plates; the BMW wagon has the "Protect Wildlife" Bobcat; Rita's Miata has the Law Enforcement Memorial plate, and my Miata has collector plates.

I thought of getting a Veteran's plate for the free parking but the Wife's Handicap sign takes care of that.

I briefly considered a vanity plate when I was the CO of my unit, but I thought that would be a bit silly, and the job wasn't permanent.

So I remain inconspicuous.

The cop plate has it's advantages, but the "DIVORCE" plate gets the most pictures.....

Something about not flinching when a flame is put to his hand is, well, impressive. F.O.X. material there!

That's one of them, yeah. He might have been a bit heavy handed (or fiery handed) but how he dealt with his fears as a child helped me deal with a number of issues.

There's a lot to be said for stoicism......
