A Pangorath and a Virm travel shell. Pangorath and Virm live in a symbiotic relationship, the pangos are incapable of eating food and must be nourished by their hive of virm. The virm enter into the pango's body, growing its proportions and musculature as well as repairing them. Pangorath provide the virm with long term memory and increased mobility and strength, together becoming more than they were apart. Virm eat away parasites and other organic mater turning it into the pools of acid which they need to survive. When not inside of her they inhabit shells with glowing crystal slivers. Digesting the glowing crystals of the Lord Worms the virm are able to create the nourishment which is required by the Pangoraths.
The Virm are also capable of entering into this symbiosis with other life forms less dependent upon them, mostly beasts of burden, or surviving in a more wild state without hosts, but Pangoraths provide the virm much greater intellectual ability. The virm are also able to carry portions of memory between Pangoraths or their beasts allowing a very limited form of telepathic communication.

Lord Worms, Virm, and Pangorath are all native to a moon of a rogue gas giant flying through interstellar space. As the crystal Pangorath need to survive can't be grown artificially they are unable to leave their world without bringing a considerable supply of the crystal and returning later for more.
