October 1st, 1942 Stalingrad, Soviet Union The day had been rather busy since the rain stopped a day earlier. Machine guns could be heard throughout the city, followed by the pounding of artillery shells. Yuri's unit was heading out from their rubble camp to give support to another unit, the 31st Guard's Tank corps. The unit was one of the few armored units in Stalingrad, and General Chuikov didn't want to loose anymore tanks to the fascists. "Alright... pack up. Orders from the politruk came in." Vlad said as he walked up into the small encampment. "The hell are they?" Misha asked. "Read 'em yourself, comrade." Vlad said and tossed the collection of stapled papers at Misha. "Ah." Misha breathed out slightly as he grabbed them. Yuri watched the genet's eyes fly about the paper before he looked back up at Vlad. "Hmm... Red Square, eh? Grand..." Misha said. Vlad looked back at him, the fox's yellow eyes gleamed in the shadowy spot in which he stood. "Supposedly, the armored division there is in need if something. We were picked." He said. "Well, Fritz isn't gonna give Red Square up anytime soon. We may as well go an help. And, come on, there's tank support there." Yuri said. Vlad look at Yuri with a slight grin before Kirl spoke up. "What's the other support?" He asked. "Elements of the 62nd Rifle division. That's about it..." He paused for a second. "Enough talking. Move it out." He ordered. Two hours later Near Red Square, Stalingrad, USSR "Hey! Kiril! Hand me that box!" Yuri called down to his friend. The ocelot nodded and picked up a thin box labeled "GRENATA" in white stencil. He handed it off to Yuri, who was sitting in a troop transport truck organizing extra ordinance for the attack on Red Square. Yuri stacked the crate on top of others with the same labeling, now around 6 boxes tall. Next, Kiril loaded the boxes containing extra Mosin Nagants and SVT40s. Yuri counted them, came up with an acceptable number, and gave the thumbs-up to Vlad, who was standing on the truck's left side. "Mount up!" He called, and the rest of Yuri's unit boarded the trucks. The ambient of the battle in the Square was getting louder and louder as they passed each annihilated apartment block. Suddenly, the truck's driver shouted something to Vlad, but Yuri could hear only a small bit of it. The fox spoke up. "Alright! We're here now. Keep your eyes open. It's a damn bloodbath in there." He said. Yuri gripped the stock on his PPSh-41 and Misha quietly muttered to himself. "Welcome to the gates of Hell.." a mortar shell hit near enough for the truck to swerve a little. Suddenly, it stopped, and a hail of bullets from an MG42 greeted them, killing the driver and his passenger instantly. "COVER!!!" Vlad yelled. Yuri jumped out the left side of the truck and hugged the now-closed passenger door. "Where the fuck is he??" Yuri yelled. Kiril pointed. "There! Second floor room window!!" He said. Vlad peered through one of the cracks in the truck safety gates and saw that Kiril's prediction was correct. Vlad tapped on Misha's shoulder. "Misha. Go around and get some fire on that suka." He ordered. "Yest', tovarishch." The genet stood up and ran around the bed of the truck and then to a pillar of bricks. He levels his Mosin on a crook in the pillar and looked through the sights at the window. He pulled the trigger and the MG42 stopped firing for a second, but quickly picked back up again. "Must've shot his belt loader..." Misha thought. "Or wounded him.." he continued. He fired once again and the MG42 turned and fired on him, cutting the brick pillar next to him down. "Gah! Der'mat!" He cursed, bits of brick flying up and hitting him and sticking to his fur. He shielded his eyes from further rabid shrapnel and quickly reconstituted himself, aiming back at the window. "Hey! Serzhant!" Misha yelled, and caught Vlad's attention. He waved his hand towards him and mouthed the word "davai" to his comrades in fron of him. Vlad motioned to Yuri, Kiril and Pavel. "Ey! Go! To that ruin! Now!" He ordered, and the four furs ran for the ruined building where Misha stood. "Flanking routs." Misha pointed. "There's more Soviet infantry out there. Perhaps going in our direction?" Vlad looked with a concerned look on his face, followed by his trademark "dammit..." look. "Alright.. two ways I see here:2 we folow the first route, probably fewer Fritzes. We go the other, we'll get slaughtered by the Fritzes to no avail." He said in a half-sarcastic, half-fuck this tone of voice. Yuri was about to speak, when a whistling sound was heard, followed by a loud crash, and everything faded to black.
