Form VI- Niman
Title can't be empty.
Title can't be empty.
Form VI- Niman, the Way of the Rancor, the Moderation Form
"For superior balance, use Niman. No specific strength, but no weakness, either." ~Jedi Master Kavar
It was the duty of a Jedi to find any means of ending a conflict that did not result in violence. Soresu was created as a means of self-defense, facilitating survival over victory; but while Soresu provided the pure roots to Niman, the latter form offered much more in terms of offense. Form VI was known among Jedi as the "Diplomat's Form", however, due to the fact that it's balanced nature and ability to tackle most relatively mundane situations (like common thugs with blasters) meant less time studying the form, and more time focusing on matters concerning the Force or studying diplomacy. Nevertheless, Niman could be studied to a point where a practitioner could be lethal in a combat situation; and despite being labeled the "Diplomat's Form," it was the preferred Form of the infamous Jedi-turned-Sith, Exar Kun, and was studied and utilized by Sith apprentices like Darth Maul and Galen Marek.
Niman required much in the way of study, however- Battlemaster Cin Drallig warned students that a Jedi devoted to Niman could expect to study it for more than a decade before reaching mastery. As such, most practitioners put in the bare minimum towards its studies, becoming merely adequate combatants. Among its Jedi practitioners, Bran and Kajex Surnahm are two of the few Jedi to have studied it to the point of mastery.
Niman was characterized by the hybridization of several other styles: Shii-Cho for its intensity, Soresu for its defense, Ataru for its agility and Shien for its offense against blasters. This was the primary reason a long period of study was required, as it necessitated study and proficiency in other lightsaber forms. What Niman could offer by itself better than other Forms, however, was utilizing Force abilities against opponents with the off-hand; drawing in opponents or knocking them off balance with pulls and pushes were useful tools in combat; imbuing the blade with kinetic energy or Force lightning were also creative applications of the style. Moreover, Niman provided a sturdy starting point for dual-lightsaber combat- Jar'kai.
Kajex's study of Niman was encouraged by the confidence and love of both his fathers, who taught him the value of thinking creatively- indeed, Niman as a Form encouraged its user to be creative as possible in combat. While most practitioners of Niman would find it extremely difficult to best a master of Makashi in combat, Kajex has put in well over 20 years of his life towards the study- more than enough experience to hold his own against the pure duelist cadence of Form II. Still, while he now possesses two lightsabers for Jar'kai combat, he is most comfortable with one blade, leaving the other paw free to call upon the Force, use a blaster, or punch people in the face.
... Remember, it's about creativity. Nobody sees the left hook coming.

I also cringe every time he says "Nye-Man".
I prefer the description offered by The Jedi Path, however, and in the case of Kajex his bladework is anything but relaxed, and his approach is creative rather than rote- both qualities are meant to overcome the perceived weaknesses of the form. It's not enough to be "sufficient" in the form- if you want to make it work, you -put it to work-.
I am still not sure about which version I prefer, but I still get a big laugh from the first version of Djem-so!
With Niman, I feel that the second version was a better description if you are a fan of that form. In the first version, you can tell that he had some issues with the Form, possibly even some contempt for it.
From Jennisarri's videos, as well as all the available written material, I find that Niman has a strong "It's What You Make It" philosophy, with no two practicioners alike.
From your description, Kajax sounds as if he practices Niman with a Djem-so flavor or base to it.
I guess it's akin to the difference between constructing a figure from sticks, and carving the same figure from a log- the latter gives you extra to work with. :3
While it has been called a Hybrid Form, I agree with Jennisarri's self correction and calling it "The Trickster Form" due to Niman's practicioners being unpredictable nature and adaptability. I look forward to reading how Kajax applies this form in action.
