Many years ago, when I first started RPing, I admit I went overboard as I tried to settle on just who/what Rys was. It's part of the growing experience.
As the years went by, one aspect of Rys that I always liked coming up with was an angelic persona of his, "Crystalmagne" (the g is silent), and eventually I made it a more..permanent addition to him where applicable.
After that became something I wanted to keep around, I re-designed Crystalmagne in both looks and abilities. Some savvy viewers might notice that the crystals along his body, held by chains, also seem to correspond to chakra points on the body.
It's just a hint towards things he can do.
I don't get to utilize Crystalmagne much in RP, but I still like that he's, you know, a thing. It's something I can toy with on occasion, and someday I hope to write a story with him really letting loose. It would let my creative side shine.

This was the first drawing ever done of him after his redesign, and the first drawing of Crystalmagne ever, period. Done by my good friend shadowtygor , back in 2008.

And yeah, he has secondary feather..wing..covering..things..I dunno I like how they look though. :p
