Tallest Flower (By StarryBlur)
Title can't be empty.

Lovely art by StarryBlur
Ah my sweet mama Lily loved her flowers. I watched her spend many an afternoon watering, trimming, and tending every rose, tulip, and sunflower in her menagerie of flowers.
And yet she called me, her “little daffodil” as her favourite. Not that I was in a particular mood to receive such praise this day; whilst school was trivial on the academic side it was a struggle for my classmates to appreciate for me my intelligence, rather than some cute little dress up doll with and make crude fun at.
So I asked mama why do they not see this “little daffodil” for its greatness?
She thought for a moment, and she ran her hand up the tallest flower in the vase “See this tall, beautiful flower?”
I nodded as she spoke “So beautiful, and one of my favourites.”
“But being so tall and beautiful makes one stand out, leaves one exposed, and…”
A SNIP of secateurs “…easy to fell.”
A SNIP of secateurs “…easy to fell.”
“Woah!” I was shocked, she just said it was one of her favourites.
I pondered on this lesson, “I think I understand… but I am great, and beautiful, and that cannot change. So, what can I do?”
She smiled, first giving me hug, then she held the secateurs with me. Unsure I gave it a cut, and SNIP… another flower fell. Mama giggled, and I laughed at her joy, so I snipped another. Soon we were both cackling as we shredded the entire vase of her beautiful flowers, their bulbs scattered all over the floor.
Honestly, I’m not sure what lesson I was to take away at that point, but I remember it being such a fun afternoon. The perfect thing to take my mind of my troubles, even if it meant sacrificing a vase or two of her well-tended flowers just to cheer me up.
Now that I think about it: worst case scenario she was telling me the solution to my problems was to cut the heads off my fellow classmates. They always did seem nervous around me whenever she picked me up from school…
Ahh such a sweet thing my mama Lily was.
