Shadow Bender
Title can't be empty.
Title can't be empty.
Me'Zelf is my personally designed Original Character, under my ownership. He represents my imagination and persona.
An insight to Me'Zelf's simple yet extremely complex ability at the same time. It depicts how I was thinking about the applications, which was the complex part that made the ability so versatile and powerful. There were some lighting issues during the phototaking process, because the paper was worked to it's limits. It somehow gave my character's shadow a lighting effect, combined with the shading textures set in them. The ability appear like black flames with a purple tinge (similar to Nanatsu no Taizai, I shared a similar concept of appearance from the start).
The rainbow colored lines are actually another one of my important mental images, same with my character and his ability. They depict my understanding of creativity. This is the first piece of work incorporating them. More appearances will follow.
Ability: Shadow Bending
Attributes: Shadow, Void, Reality Bending
Effects: Propulsion, Tangibility Shift, Shapeshifting
Weakness: Light, Unable to interact directly with physical entities
Introduction:
Me'Zelf is originally an ethereal being, so he doesn't wield breath abilities. Instead he conjures his shadow, which is an extension of himself. The effects are straightfoward, but the complexity comes with the flexibility of application. He can use it to generate propulsion, strenghten his physique, remove physical tangibility, and shapeshift.
He prefers to avoid using it for offensive purposes, usually for slipping away from trouble. Practicality is favoured over flashy moves, and usage is avoided in public if possible. He is well aware of its powerful potential, and really tries to hide it (he wants to be as normal as possible). The ability makes him too menacing to the public, gaining too much attention for his comfort. He prefers his current form rather than the intangible monster form in the mindscape (or how he described it).
Applications:
- Shadow Propulsion generates propulsion, and cannot do the opposite. It offers the speed attribute to my character in action, also the most common form of application.
- Increasing tangibility (Physical Augmentation) increases strength or toughness, often active when exerting force. It makes him a harder hitter for his light build, but he usually doesn't use that concept for defense. Reinforcing the body also makes certain postures possible for his body build.
- Decreasing tangibility (Ethereal Shift) by transforming into the shadow avoids physical contact, great for avoiding physical harm. This is also the most flexible application, allowing shapeshifting, regeneration. In the shapeshifting aspect, there's a snag that keeps my character's color profile regardless of what form taken.
These limit him to mostly physical attributes, plenty of speed and strength. The applications can be used in combos or in quick succession, depending on the condition of his casted shadow. When the shadow is conjured, it's casted form vanishes. The ability strenghtens if the shadow or its contrast gets deeper. There is no physical limitation to wield, only mental focus. Light can burn it away, but please consider how real shadows work, it's not so simple as a hard counter.
