I have to say I can see deeply rooted symbolism in this and you description only more verifies my thoughts. Besides the shadows taking hold, I also see this alchemic symbols as a repeat inlay in the dark shadows, I am not sure if the represent anything or not but it really adds to the piece. I could also sees this for a goth music CD cover as well but I think your story will be cool, I like the art nonetheless, it is well done. :)
