For some reason, the one on the right looks more realistic to me. Less cartooney. Not a good or bad thing, just different. Anyway I like them both :)

Both colorations are beautiful!

It adds that bit of depth, which is a nice touch. It makes the colors not pop so much as become more bold with the contrast. They're not as bright, but they composition as a whole looks less flat and adds life, plus the color that isn't darkened shines more because of that aforementioned contrast.

I have to agree, both look good, though the one on the right has more of that special quality to it

I do believe I just joined the "hyena girls are awesome" bandwagon. Also, this earned a watch from me. Yay!
Awesomesauce aside, isn't the tail a tad too long for an "accurate" hyena? Or am I just mistaken? Don't get me wrong, I like it that length, possibly even longer, but thought it worth mentioning.

You get a kind of trippy psychedelic thing going on if you cross your eyes and overlay the two images.

The left one looks like the shirt, brand-spanking new, and the right is the same shirt with a few years of colour-fade.

shading brings out lighting and defines facial structure among other things.. good job im sure if i took the time to practace i could draw as good some day.. if only i had the ambition in life to do other than i must.
