I decided to start doing a new set of sketch types. Everyone does 'Warm-up' sketches, or, '-Artist' sketches and stuff. Well, I decided to start my own unique type of drawing challenge:

The Block Buster Sketches, for when you have to get out of an art block. Get it?

At any rate, this is a sketch I did of Alcyone, my vixen fursona, when she was in the military. I significantly changed her back-story, so that she was born in a world where the technological Dark Ages never happened, so, their technology is 500 years more advanced.
The weapon she is holding is a .50cal sniper rifle that is augmented with linear acceleration rails, allowing her to shoot further and faster than conventional firearms. It uses APFSDS-DU_KP ammunition. It's a BMG that shoots over the horizon, but, obviously she's close enough to be shot at back. The thing on the barrel is a heat dispersal sink, and the three little nubs on the stock are the capacitor bank to power the rails. The fucked-up looking optics are designed to link to orbital satellites for OTH marksmanship, and the front-most optic is a holographic mirage compensator, to deal with the heat generated from the dispersal sink that keeps the barrel from melting into a puddle of slag. I put a lot of effort into designing it.

The funky looking rings in front of her, and the apparent distortion, are her personnel energy barrier absorbing a direct impact.

I think my favorite part of this, is that I was able to capture the recoil of the rifle perfectly.
