i don't know, i imagine a universe where there are large blobs of just water in space, and guys like this scavenge them, from space ships that accidentally fly through them. cuz they are space ships, not submarines.

There are a couple of old Star Trek episodes that feature a universe relatively distant to ours that the characters dub 'Fluidic Space' as it is filled with a dense, vaguely liquid medium rather than void space. Since this requires very different laws of physics, it is very different to our own universe and not very human hospitable, and has really alien creatures in it instead of the usual Star Trek humanoids. I thought they were quite an interesting diversion from the usual predictable Star Trek sort of stuff when I saw them back in the day.

I'm not really a fan but I'll watch almost anything when bored :3
