I did it free hand. We had a black primer put over our canvases, then we did the outlines in white chalk. after we painted the colours, we wiped off the chalk with a damp sponge.

I think I did a great job, what with my eye for detail. My art teacher saw me working on it and said it looked like I was painting by numbers almost (I was using the original picture of Carmelita that I based my sketch after to get the colours right).
