MarcusStarkiller offered to create an Empires fan character for me, after looking through some of the species available in the setting I decided on an A'Kii.

Description from creator: "Maddie is a female A'Kii who was picked by her squad sisters to act as their kwachef (A'Kii equivalent of squad leader) and as such holds the Central Alliance Army rank of Squad Sergeant. She and her squad are assigned to the 212th Battalion in the 121st Sector Group Takhzista."

I haven't read that many Empires comics by Chris Grant, but I understand that it's a military sci-fi series about a war between the Empire and the Centrality, both factions include multiple species of furry aliens. A'Kii are a species aligned with the Centrality from a high-gravity world with a matriarchal clan-based society. Males are relegated to non-combatant roles and females serving in the Centrality military usually serve in squads drawn from the same clan and trained together from a young age. They typically keep their "clan names" secret and adopt names from other cultures to use with other species.
