Snowing here in NW CT. Supposed to snow through the night. President's Day Monday, but I'm seeing a client.
Flag day today, a day everyone usually ignores since it isn’t a holiday, but there is a big push on this year because of Trumps “51st State” comments. Monday is. Holiday in this province and a few others; Family Day. Bad time of yea for a day off unless you are into winter sports or tagging it onto a week-long trip.
Went to visit the guy I care for, only to discover that he arrived at the home with virtually no clothes. The clue was seeing him in the same ratty outfit every time I saw him. So, I need to get him at least the basics. Plus chocolate. That's the high point of my visit. It's one thing he won't get from the facility.
NASCAR race today. With all the rivalry and animosity from last week, and this being a super speedway, the race should be a wild one. The Fords clearly have an advantage at the moment, and my guy drives a ford. He's starting second row, position 4. Good begining, anyway.
Been in the twenties here. My drive is still a block of ice. Come down off the mountain, and it's much better. Low 40's mid day in the flatlands.
Tater tots and hash for breakfast. Not traditional, but a favorite. Been busy trying to open an account with Navy Federal Credit Union. They're like the premier place for their super favorable terms on almost everything. I'm alread a member of Pentagon Federal; for a long time, they were the place to finance a car. Now it's Navy. Biggest FCU in the nation. Besides, we're a Navy family, and Pentagon is based out of West Point. Navy has a bunch of affiliated credit unions, so they can serve as my full service bank, important since my bank was just taken over. They say "Oh, it's just a name change" but all the people are new. Bank changes are NEVER good.....
We went up over 70 degrees F in 24 hours the other day .. BIG difference. People are running around in shorts and tee-shirts despite it being in the mid-forties still. Very sunny too though and the sun is very strong here.
I gave up on brick and mortar banks a while back. I keep a HELOC with a +$0.13 balance and a savings account with a few dollars in one just so I can go and get money exchanged when I need it, but that is about it. Everything else is online at much higher interest rates. Same with the credit cards. Just found out the other day that my credit rating is now 871. I can live with that.
or are Canadian FICO scores done in the metric system like everything else?
We've got a joint checking at Wells Fargo. Have several credit cards with them. All of our other bank accounts are with Savings Bank Danbury (now Ives Bank) with whom I have a business credit card. And each of us belongs to a credit union; Rita New Milford, and I belong to Pentagon Federal.
At least I didn't vote for him.
On another note, apparently a Tass Reporter was able to get into the Oval office and stream the whole thing live to Russia even though he was not on approved media list. Someone there must have wanted to see that scolding very badly ... but who?
These are mysteries we may never solve.

Theory two is that he's crazy and demented, and there's no rhyme or reason for anything. He's like a petulant 2-year-old that gets told things, and does the opposite, just because.
Went for a 400 mile round-trip up north through the Rockies today. 45-50 F the whole way and brilliantly sunny. Hardly another car on the road too; we were able to let the dogs run off leash at most of the rest stops. Winter drives in the mountains give you a whole other perspective.
Did you see how the Dept of Defence is taking down thousands of images and web pages that violate DEI? They even removed the page for one of the Command Sergeant-Majors whose last name is Gay, and any reference to the plane that dropped the first atomic bomb - the Enola Gay.
