A Different Cougar
Title can't be empty.
Title can't be empty.
This is a Grumman F9F-8P Cougar. Ir replaced the F9F Panther, though it is very similar except for a more swept wing. These were carrier fighters in the late 1950s that were later converted to reconnaissance aircraft.
This particular aircraft was built in June 1957 and spent most of its life not far from where I lived for eight years, Jacksonville, FL. It also was deployed to the USS Randolph in the Mediterranean Sea from June 1958 to March 1959.
It is currently privately owned and is on loan to MAPS Air Museum (http://mapsairmuseum.org/)
