I recorded this song on 12/16/84, along with four others (five other songs were recorded in the spring of 1985), with the idea that I was making a demo tape, to sell the songs to someone with a real voice, a real band, and a real chance at going somewhere with it. In all these areas, I failed, but the relic remains. This was a song written for an artistic dancer with a tormented soul, a body made of re-healed scars, and a heart made of open wounds. I was not the one he wanted to love him, and the parting resulted in his transferring at least some of his scars to me. I wrote and sang this song for him while I was still trying to love him. I recorded it later, since it was better than many of my songs (which gives you some idea of the horror from which I have protected the world). Any artists sees his own flaws; I hope you hear past them.
