For the record other non specially adapted species do live on Vulconos, they just mostly live in the areas where there is a lot less volcanic activity. Trust me, volcanic ash and gases can make you very sick. I live in Hawaii and when Mauna kea erupts, you can feel the volcanic fog all the way up the chain.
