It's hard to say anything when a tragedy like this happens; even harder to comprehend what people have to go through.

This community helps people come together and help.

I'm trying to help, though I've never done anything like this before (I'm a little anxious), but hoping I can do something now.
You wanted to watch Southland? I did.

But I can't, now. It's got the axe from NBC.

Now, normally there's something entertaining about watching dumb people doing dumb things. But this, here, is not even remotely funny. Why do they start production, get six episodes done, push the season premiere from September to October just to cancel it before even the first episode airs?! I mean, it's something so totally beyond my comprehension, I can't even believe it yet. Why do you say something Monday and the total opposite Tuesday? Just to make a fool of yourself, NBC?
Southland was critically acclaimed (which doesn't always mean it's also good, but this was), and of course fans are dreaming about some good cable channel picking it up and continuing production, but I suspect how likely that is. :-( Yeah, not very likely.

I swear, I'm so infuriated - it was the show I most awaited this season, yeah, after only seven episodes - that I'm considering to make a Twitter account. Can you imagine that? And why don't I have a "stupid" icon? Just in case I'll need it more than once.

Two things that are in no way related.

Firstly, there are six icons - Kenneth Parcell, all of them, and I feel too listless to do anything but cut 100x100 and adjust a bit after making the screenshots, but if anyone (I'm not pointing fingers, soitg0es ) feels like adding text (there are so many good quotes to add, people), do it. Or, obviously, anything else as well. They're up for abuse.

Secondly - I know there are not many people on my flist who care much about the new Star Trek movie - but what is this new awful rumour about JJ Abrams not directing the sequel?! (Apparently, Paramount seems to be in trouble with marketing a film as much awaited as Shutter Island - there could've been an Oscar for it, and they still postponed release with months. There's no one in the world who could explain this mindboggling... thing with money to me.)
I hate waiting for sequels. I waited a lot for The Dark Knight, and as it turned out, it wasn't as good as Batman Begins. I liked it, yes, Heath Ledger was absolutely fantastic as Joker, and I love dark stories - but. But. The anticipation exceeded the quality of the film, IMO - or, better say, in my case.
There are two other examples - the two Matrix sequels that shouldn't even have been done, and Lord of the Rings, where I felt inconsolable to come out of the cinema after seeing The Return of the King that it's already over.
That is to say, I'm very cautious saying I can't wait for the next Star Trek movie. I couldn't stand to be disappointed - I'd be more okay watching this one twice as many times instead of that. I don't even know what to wish for.

Yes, that was an entry. *scratches head*

Because I like comparisons.

I make comparisons all the time. I bet I get on people's nerve with it. I don't know why that is, but I kinda roll everything together, I mean, everything that belongs together - mostly just in my head. But look at these if you like to smile.

<lj-embed id="7" />
I remember the first time I saw this. I had to repeat it again, and again, and again. I still have no idea why Randy did it, despite the many explanations - he didn't give, but the fans tried to. (Why did he do it?)

<lj-embed id="8" />
Now, this is so different. It's a loud declaration. :-))))) And I guess as serious as the previous one. I watched this interview a hundred times, wishing for just one single similar one with Gale and Randy.
Your daily ZQ spam.

I wanted to share these quotes with whoever's interested (whomever? oh, English language). Actually, I just wanted these to be in my journal, because putting everything from ontd_startrek to memories makes it hard to find anything.

So now, I just copy and paste from here.

...

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: J.J., what were you looking for when you were casting Spock?

J.J. ABRAMS: The same thing you’re looking for when you want to get married. You just have to know. You can’t intellectualize this. It just has to feel right on every level. And I have to tell you, I want to marry Zachary Quinto.

EW: Wow. How does your wife feel about this?

ABRAMS: Katie’s not going to be happy. Or very happy. I don’t know.

...

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: What was attractive about being on Heroes?

KRISTEN BELL: Um... Zachary Quinto is attractive...

...

Greg Beeman, the producer/director of Heroes, kept an awesome blog with lots of behind the scenes commentary and pictures. He left the show at the end of season 3, and his last blog post was a bunch of individual farewells to the cast and crew. His first farewell was noticeably longer and more effusive than the rest...

<quote>I’d like to start with Zachary Quinto. Because I didn’t do the pilot I didn’t have influence over hiring the rest of the series regulars. But I was there, directing Zach at his first audition. It was an incredible, showstopping, performance. It was immediately evident that his range was phenomenal and I knew then and there we had something special. Zach is a true artist and I feel a deep affection for him. He is also a great person and a very giving actor to his fellow actors, to the crew and to the show. What’s especially amazing is that, as great as he is, I know how much he can still develop into the power of his craft. Beyond a doubt, I know that he will go on to greatness - because not only does he have the talent to achieve this he has the will, and I have immense respect for this quality within him.

...

</quote>Heroes executive producer Allan Arkush and writer Christopher Zatta watch Zach as closely and appreciatively as we do. From the Season 1 Episode 18 DVD commentary.

You know what I really like here, I love the way Sylar sips the tea.
Yeah.
Watch here, just the way he sips it. He's terrific. Watch.

Sylar: This is good, what is it?

See, I believed him, I absolutely believe that's good!

...

InStyle magazine got Kristen, Hayden and Zoe to talk about Zach.

KRISTEN BELL: Zach has the charm and confidence of an old-time movie star. There's mystery in his eyes.

HAYDEN PANETTIERE: He's very hip and versatile. Plus, he has perfect muscle tone and can wear anything.

ZOE SALDANA: He has a certain poise that makes you notice him the moment he walks into a room. He's also funny as hell.

...

More from Greg Beeman, on Episode 13 of Season 3:

<quote>In general, as we all know, Zach Quinto rules. But I think he just killed it in this episode and I gratefully told him so once I saw how the whole piece was coming together in the cutting room. His performance, to me, is the unifying element of this story. It’s the glue that holds the episode together. I love getting into scenes with him. For instance, we shot all of his scenes in the surveillance room relatively quickly. As I always do with him, I encouraged him to be playful and unexpected. This is not a direction you can give all actors, trust me, but Zach can find a way to play a line in a completely unexpected way, that doesn’t lose the thought behind the original intention. </quote>

...

J.J. again.

<quote>Zachary brought a gravity and an incredible sense of humor, which is a wonderful combination because Spock's character is deceivingly complicated. The revelation for me watching the movie, when I finally got to watch the whole thing after working on sequences, was that he is extraordinary. He was doing things I didn't even realize while we were shooting, these amazing things to track his story.

...

</quote> From an extended interview with Leonard Nimoy. Long but lovely.

DM: Describe what it was like for you to see Zachary Quinto playing Spock for the first time?

LN: I loved it! I think he is terrific. I admire the way he approaches his work. He is a very well trained, very serious actor in the best way. He is intelligent. They sent me some footage of him when he was being considered for the role and they asked me to take a look at it. I called them immediately and said, “Not only does he look enough like me to make it work, he also has an inner life. There is a mind at work – you can see it working. I think that is vital to the character and I think he will be wonderful.” I think he has done some terrific things with the Spock character.

DM: Wasn’t the first scene you shot for the film the moment where Spock Prime and young Spock meet face-to-face?

LN: That is correct.

DM: Was it at all odd to see another actor in front of you playing Spock?

LN: We had met a number of times before so it wasn’t the first time we had been in each other’s company. It was the first time for the characters but not for the actors. We had spent hours together at various times over meals and at my home and looking at Star Trek footage together and discussing the philosophy and the make-up of the Spock character. When it came time to do the job I felt quite comfortable working with him. I just think he is a terrific actor. He makes me proud and I have told him so.

DM: What was the most important piece of advice you passed on to Zachary Quinto?

LN: I can’t honestly say that I advised him in any way. It wasn’t really the process of an advisor. I didn’t say, “Think about this” or “do that” or “don’t do this.” It wasn’t that kind of conversation. It was about the philosophy of the character, the origins of the character and how he evolved, what the make-up problems were and how that evolved. I was just giving him a little history so he had some roots from my experience to draw from. There was no guidance or advice. He is a very well trained and intelligent guy. He knew what to do.

...

AND SO ON.
This totally reminds me of the Gale picspam I once made (on a community, so I don't even know where it is anymore) to prove how Gale behaved like a living magnet with friends.

Now some <strike>mindless entartainment</strike> Chuck and Burn Notice.

That's, I mean, if you ever find it. I'll conveniently forget to mention this, so you might never see. :-P

<lj-embed id="6" />
Gotta love GLEEEEEE. Spock=small town girl. Enterprise=midnight train. And so much fun. For me, for sure. If only the crew started to dance on the bridge - my life would be whole.
And it was time to have a fun tag.
* Post 12 pictures you currently have on your hard drive that you think are self-expressive.
* NO CAPTIONS! It must be like we're speaking with images and we have to interpret your visual language just like we have to interpret your words.
* They must ALREADY be on your hard drive - no googling or flickr!
* You do NOT have to answer any questions about any of your pictures if you don't want to. You can make them as mysterious as you like. Or you can explain them away as much as you like.
