Ah... Hello! This is Akito again!

[His voice is scratchy, like he has a sore throat, but his chipper tone makes up for it.]

I messed up my counting... [It was nowhere near December at home...] So happy belated New Year to Luna-san and Ginny-san and Mr. Undertaker! And Christmas too, though I'm really late for that one, ne?

Just a note to Adstringéndum players about my permissions and information posts!

Basic IC and OOC permissions can be found HERE. There is nothing to fill out, and there is a textbox with the coding for it at the bottom if you would like to use it for yourself. :)

For those of you with telepathic/psychic/etc. characters, Akito and Agito's mind is very confusing and complex, and so I typed up detailed info HERE on how telepathic abilities will likely impact them. Of course, this is just a general idea and if your character's abilities would impact them differently please feel free to contact me and let me know!

Um... This is somewhat of an unfortunate situation... [The voice that comes out is soft, feminine, and hesitant, with a face to match. Akito doesn't hold out much hope, but he has to ask anyway:]

I'm looking for my friends... They were with me before I arrived... here, so there's a chance they might have been brought here too. Their names are Minami Ikki, Mikura Kazu, Buccha, Onigiri, Udou Akira... Ah, and Wanijima Kaito too, I guess.

If any of you can hear this, this is Akito! My injuries are negligible, so there's no need to worry, if you were... I hope you're all safe, too!

[...He just wants to go home. Or wake up. Waking up would be really, really nice.]

If anyone happens to run into any of them, if you could tell them that Akito is looking for them -- Ikki, especially! -- I would really appreciate it.

Ah... Detailed information about this place, like the 'Animus' spirits and the kinds of wildlife to watch out for would also be appreciated.

[He pauses, focus on the communication device waning as he listens to Agito.] Any information that's known about the scientists would be useful as well.

[Akito is sitting on the roof of the tallest building once again, though this time he has his cool new flying broom by his side along with their A-T on his feet. He looks at the SFC after a moment and begins to speak.

When you imagine your sky, what do you see? [He looks back up to where the sky should be, clearly imagining his own sky as he continues.] The colours, the clouds, the sunlight, the birds. What is your favourite thing about it?

Akito dreams of his brother sometimes.

Sometimes they are nightmares filled with whips and cages and pain – harsh words hitting him almost as painfully as the chains and bullets that tear at his naked flesh. Agito isn’t with him. He’s all alone with nothing but a cage between him and what is causing his pain, and the cold iron bars are like icy razors against his skin. He has no protection.

He wakes up crying from those dreams, Agito soothing him to the best of his ability. He could never understand why his heart would hurt so much afterwards – a stabbing pain of betrayal, like when they realized Akira was leaving them, only different – but Lind would always watch from behind his prison, out of the corner of his sharpened eyes.

“You know something,” Akito observes one day, taking the opportunity to talk to their third while Agito is busy. It is a few moments before he receives a response, terse and expectedly cryptic.

“So do you.”

Akito dreams of his brother sometimes.

Sometimes they aren’t nightmares, but memories of happier days mixed in with his childish wishes of being a real family. Holidays spent with just the two of them, back when he was younger and Agito did not yet exist. When he was the Fang King and happy, so naïve that sometimes he wishes he could shake his younger self free of the illusion. His brother’s smiles weren’t a lie – even the ones so cold and frigid he was sure he would shatter into frozen pieces on the ground – but they weren’t quite the truth either. They were a half-truth, hiding something he could never understand and never would understand.

Akito never doubted Kaito’s love for him though, even through the pain and the cages, because the happier times weren’t something that could be faked. The late-night ice creams on the roof of the trailer, his brother letting him crawl into bed without complaint when he had a bad dream, the gentle touch when he would twist an ankle or pull a muscle from childish clumsiness. Those were things that could never be taken from him, because they weren’t a requirement – they were a gift. If Kaito wanted him to be his tool, he didn’t have to be kind. He could have just ruled him through fear, like so many of the ones he’s watched Agito carve into his Road.

So the dreams about quiet, intimate Christmases in Tokyo, or the look on Kaito’s face when he would master a new trick in record time (a prodigy, they would say), were all a welcome change to the nightmares.

He stares at his reflection in the fogged up mirror. His features are obscured by the mist, but he can see his outline: rail thin and short, with hair too long for a boy. The ends curl in the moisture, and he knows that today his hair will be wavy unless he blows it dry. A drop of water slips down a ringlet like a slide, weaving a trail of cold wetness down to his collarbone.

“I know nothing,” he says to his reflection, then turns away to get dressed.

Akito dreams of his brother sometimes.

Sometimes they are neither nightmare nor memory, filling him with want and need instead of fear or delightful reminiscence. He finds them frightening in a different way than the nightmares – more frightening, in a way, precisely because he isn’t scared of them. They are dreams that he should be having about Ikki – that he used to have about Ikki – of intertwined bodies, slick with perspiration; skin flushed red with heat and breath mixed with low, keeling moans. But instead of coarse brown hair he now runs his fingers through long, silky tresses of spun silver. Instead of licking a trail down his crow’s thick and sturdy torso he runs his tongue down his brother’s spring-tight abdomen. Arms, long and spiderlike, pull him close as they create a singular rhythm; one tight around his waist, and the other wrapped around his back with strong, spindly fingers mussing his hair. He buries his face in the crook of his brother’s neck, sucking and licking and inhaling the scent of a thousand cigarettes and Tokyo’s night breeze.

He likes these dreams because the love isn’t imagined. He loves these dreams because the scent of cigarettes and freedom lingers in his throat when he wakes up and makes him feel like he’s free, too.
