Wow, two great shows are coming to town at the ed of October- Gogol Bordello, and Voltaire is bringing Hellblinki Sextet out for a spin. I'm not exactly thrilled to go out and see Voltaire's show for the umpteenth time, but Hellblinki Sextet is pretty darn cool, and their stage show is supposed to be a lot of fun. Gogol Bordello is just about one of the craziest gypsy punk bands that ever existed, and I've been waiting to see them live for a long time! Anyone want to join?

I don't post here often because quite frankly, I'm not online a whole lot. When I have something to say that I hope people will see, I'm glad that it is here as a sounding board so that I can say things like the following: To all of my friends- I love you no matter what. That means through thick and thin, now and always. No kidding, and I'm not shy to say that means that even if you're having a problem with another one of my friends that I really want to hear from you anyways. Sometimes I'm very seclusive and you don't know that I care about what's going on in your day-to-day lives, but that's not true at all! The truth is...I might just be one of the most shy people you know! Also, I don't judge people most of the time because I can't assume that I understand everything about anybody, much less my wonderful friends. Anyways, some of us are having a hard time right now. Well, most of the people on the planet sound like they're getting ready to have a hard time right now in fact. No matter what you're going through- a minor issue with a sucky day, or a serious issue with a life-changing event, please please feel free to talk to me. I'm much better with phones than with online stuff, but I do check myspace daily (honestly, it's a lot easier for me to deal with than LJ most of the time due to format). Also, I'm kind of in-between jobs as things are slowing for the fall with the landscaping stuff...that means I've got a ridiculous amount of spare time right now. I'd love to get back in touch with all of my friends after the Pennsic and then brass-bodice madness. I might even manage to check and see if anyone's responded to this post! ;o) Anyways, I've missed every one of you, please keep in touch!!

Americans are missing out on all of the fun. Here in Ivrea, Italy there is a yearly festival, during which they throw oranges at each other. Not even just one or two, but bins of oranges to heft at your buddies! It all started when the peasants threw beans at the lord that had just handed them out as a rebellious act to show how little they thought of his generosity. Today, this "Damn the Man" ceremony has become full-scale, and the beans became oranges somehow, through the years (probably because they make a fun, pulpy mess). I think that food-throwing is a much neglected facet of modern society. Maybe we should start our own Say it with Citrus festival....

In my friend roundup to invite people to come post on my blogs at myspace, I was going to invite Bren and saw that his last post (aside from the one where he said he wasn't going to post anymore) was that he was looking for a place to stay. I just thought it would be nice to say goodbye if he's moving out of Columbus again..

I have to say that never before has anything political interested me due to almost complete lack of impact upon my personal life. I would say that I am disappointed in the American people, but I'm really sure that about 80% of people everywhere are as dumb as a box of rocks, American or not. With the results of this election, I'm pretty convinced that Bush is going to run this entire country even MORE into the ground financially AND get our asses bombed on top of it. Fortunately for my outlook, this is far overshadowed by the impending disaster that I truly believe is about to take place upon the North American continent due to global warming, and maybe the eruption of a supervolcano (which lies beneath Yellowstone Park). Part of me wants to say that I should have joined the group crusading against Bush in Ohio about six months ago and tried to make a difference. Would it have helped? Realistically, probably not. I have to say that Discordianism can seem at first glance to be a little defeatist in its practical application, but in the end, I find it comforting in a humbling, terrible sort of way. What to do? Well, I could be really, really angry, or extremely frightened, but I know that Eris is at least partially responsible. The impending insanity that our country is about to plunge into is going to be astronomical. Practically speaking, this means that I will take religious refuge in knowing that it is all chaos anyways, and there is exactly squat that I can do about that when all is said and done. Sooo, in a flash of Divine inspiration, I decided to get drunk and bake Ghirardelli chocolate chip cookies. My day is much better now- but I think that I might have discovered that I truly am a hedonist at heart. If the entire world seems to be falling down around my ears, it seems that the best thing I can do is to have as good a time as possible, and everything else be damned, because it probably already is anyways.

Yaaay! I've been playing in slime all day. I wonder if it's good for my hands? Unfortunately, it gets kinda cold after a few hours. Monsters are beginning to emerge, and lurk around my house. One of them was sitting outside the back door and kept making me start every time I passed the door. I got to chase off some more bluejays with my slingshot (that Clyde got me for my b-day) and almost hit one with an acorn. Hehehe. The moon looked really cool last night, and the entire forest was filled with a dense white fog yesterday morning. I do like autumn, despite the fact that it precurses winter.
Well, better get back to playing in goo.

Anyone free this weekend? Want to go to a hippie-fest? We won't even make you leave behind your sharp sticks. Hookahville is this weekend, and we were considering going down just for Saturday. The drive is only about 45 minutes from Delaware, 20 min. from Columbus. If anyone wants to join, let us know!

So I've been all down in the dumps lately- didn't get to start school, had to declare bankruptcy, almost lost my car, and my master falconer didn't contact me for months and months despite several attempts to contact him. So I was supposed to teach a class on Medieval Falconry at the SCA Twelfth Night celebration and didn't feel like doing it at all. But I did the research, made a nifty handout, and was all ready to make a fool out of myself, since I'm no good at talking in front of other people. Master Cunningham, the falconer who offered to apprentice me, had told me last time we spoke that he would bring his hawk for my class. Since I was depressed about the whole thing, I didn't call him to ask him to bring her. I had pretty much decided that my apprenticeship was a no-go, that he had changed his mind, or lost his hawk...something.
Saturday we showed up at Twelfth Night Master Cunningham was one of the first people we saw- he asked me why I hadn't called and told him to bring his hawk! Apparently he had lost my phone number. He said he would have returned any calls or e-mails so he must not have gotten them. Huh. But he did offer me an apprenticeship again, apologized for trying to teach me about training hawks since I have more experience doing so than he does, and had invited several people to attend my class. So I guess I'll give the situation a second chance. Yay! I may get a hawk after all! But before that happens it's off to the great job hunt. Wish me luck!
