I AM EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED AND ANXIOUS AND I FORGOT HOW BAD ANXIETY CAN FEEL AND I REALLY WANT TO CRY IN A CORNER.

Augh.

Last semester of this retarded coding thing starts on Monday. And really, the only reason I decided to do this diploma thing was so that I had more time to figure out what I want to do and stuff. And I think I figured out that I wanna go for clinical laboratory science. Cytotechnology, huzzah! And the clinical laboratory tech associates at MATC transfers to the BS at UWM, so I was liek, oh shit, that's awesome, I can work in the field while I finish, right? Except the waitlist at MATC is several years long, as in I'd be done with the bachelors when I'd start the associates, so I think I may just say LOL and start at UWM in fall. Or at least take a couple chem/anatomy/ger classes at MATC in fall that would basically add up to my first year's classes at UWM for the major.

EXCEPT, LIKE, MATC WON'T GET BACK TO ME ABOUT ANYTHING I ASK THEM, SO I'M EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED AND DON'T KNOW WHERE I'M GOING TO START IN FALL. GODDAMNIT, I JUST WANT TO MAKE A DECISION.

And then I know I want to study abroad, because when will I have the time to go to Japan for a few months after college? Unless I try to get in the JET program which I totally do not want to do. But augh. Fuck man. But I don't want to go during the school year, because I'll make myself stay longer than the 4 years it'll take me to finish (not like that's really important since I'll be starting 5.5 years out of high school, anyway) so I just want to go during the summer, but UWM has no summer Japan programs so I'd have to deal with something outside of it but I guess that is not a big deal. But still. Stupid. Augh.

And so this semester coming up? Three night classes. Which means I'm switching shifts at work. Which means that THEY KEPT ME ON TWILIGHT FOR AS LONG AS POSSIBLE BEFORE TRANSFERRING ME. Which means I don't start on preload until Monday morning. At 3:45 am. So I'll get home at like 9, and I have to leave the house at 1:30 and won't be done with classes until 8:30, so I'm going to be extremely tired and cranky and will hopefully get to nap between class and work Monday night otherwise I'm going to fall over onto a belt at work. Oops.

So Monday I get to start getting used to my new shift and work assignments (though Mike told me what I'm doing, and I told Sandy what he said, and she said I'm getting a super easy job and I basically trust everything Sandy says about UPS since she's been there for 32 years and is Sandy) and go to class for 6 straight hours on 3-4 hours of sleep. And I won't have my work friends to bitch with.

I am going to be cranky this week and I am sorry in advance :(

Okay, just one knee.

<lj-embed id="3" />

Surgery was on Friday. It went fine. I was out for a while after surgery, I guess, because the nurse told me beforehand that most people wake up while they're being carted to the recovery area and then they're in there for 45 minutes to an hour. Yeah. I woke up and everything was already on my leg and I only laid there for like 15 minutes, so that was pretty sweet. Came home. Laid down. Slept for like 2 hours. I tried to eat some toast but that did not go over well. After that I kept falling asleep for short periods of time, like, less than an hour short, and then waking up for a while. I've slept for 4 hours straight twice now, once yesterday afternoon and last night from 11pm-3am. GO ME.

Yesterday my mom watched Ethan for a while. He was super hyper and just acting really horrible when they first dropped him off, and before they left for the zoo I asked my mom for an ice pack. So for some reason she gives it to him to give to me. He dropped it on my knee. It hurt like hell. I yelled a bit at my mom. Yay. Ethan's only 3 and a half, so why would she give it to him? Geez.

Sooooo yes. Around 1pm yesterday I just kind of started sobbing and couldn't stop. I was still crying when my mom and Ethan finally got home like 20 minutes later. And I still couldn't stop. Yaaaay me! So until I took another nap I kept almost crying a lot. That's when I slept for 4 hours, I think. But once I woke up I felt fine. When I first started crying my grandma was downstairs talking to me. She yelled at me to stop crying, threatened to call the paramedics (because I'm crying?? I don't know, man, she's 80), and told me I "better not take anymore of those pills, either" referring to my percocet. So um. What the hell? Like I said, she's old and therefore makes no sense.

Melissa (my sister) came over and made fun of me which was a nice change of pace. She brought sweet and sour chicken with her, too :D DELICIOUS.

I get to see the incision today :D We have to change the dressings today and take out the catheter. I think the catheter is actually empty now, but I am too lazy to actually look at the medicine bag. I kind of hope it is because it doesn't really hurt much now. Yey.

In closing:

PERCOCET IS AWESOME. YAY PERCOCET!

Okay so since I keep explaining this shit I will post it here because I am lazy.

So my right knee has been hurting like a fucking bitch since like January or February. Can't workout, can't put any pressure on it, can't bend it without pain. Those last two are particularly awesome because I work at UPS!

In, um, May? Maybe? I went to go see my general practitioner about it because, well, I couldn't do shit lolz. She looked at my knee and went OH THAT LOOKS WEIRD, as the kneecap basically sticks out farther than it should. She diagnosed it as patello femoral syndrome and wrote out a 'script for physical therapy, but also ordered x-rays to see wtf that bump on my knee was.

Turns out I have a bipartite patella! The two bones in my right kneecap never fused together like they are supposed to and are basically held together like a joint. That doesn't move. Yeah.

ANYWAY.

I went to PT. My therapist wasn't so sure on the diagnosis. She didn't really know what bipartite patella was (lol yeah it's like in 1 or 2% of the population) but my symptoms weren't that of patellofemoral and the normal treatments for that just made my knee worse. Not just good pain, but actually making my knee worse :D

So I had a month of disability from work and did PT. When a few weeks passed and my knee wasn't any better, my PT told me I needed to go to an orthopedist. Yay. She called up the Dr. I went to originally and the Dr. was liek lol r u sur it's not the patellofemoral lolz.

So yeah. I got a referral to and an appointment for my now orthopedic surgeon doctor man. He sticks the x-rays up on the light boardy thingy and goes HOLY SHIT THAT IS A GIANT GAP BETWEEN YOUR BONES. Okay, so maybe he didn't say it like that, but how do I know what he said when he first saw them? I was sitting in the room when he looked! But he poked his head in and said "COME LOOK AT THIS!" and so we went to see the x-rays. The line between the two bones is supposed to be super tiny, but the bones have pulled away from each other to 4mm apart :D So all that pain I've felt for the last, uh, 5 or 6 months - the pain that's been feeling like my bones are pulling apart - is that! Dr. man went I AM ALMOST CERTAIN YOU NEED SURGERY GO GET CT SCANS AND COME BACK!

So I got my CT scans and went back to the orthopedist today (lol there was an hour wait), sit in the room, and he pokes his head in and goes, "COME WITH ME, I WANNA SHOW YOU SOMETHING NEAT!" Honestly, that is what he said. He had the CT scans up on the light boardy thingy so yeah. He ordered the CT scans to see what percentage of the patella was the extra bone so he could decide if he would have to stick a screw in to hold the pieces together or if it was small enough where he could just extract it.

Wow this is a long story. Here is the end.

I AM HAVING THE EXTRA BONE TAKEN OUT.

Lol 8-12 weeks of disability leave from work.

KNEE SURGERY RULES!
