This story is based on the show version and features a soft on the inside, hard on the outside Aleksander with an emphasis on emotional hurt/comfort and angst. If you are looking for lots of hurt!Aleksander thoughts, then this story is for you. Mal exists but pretty much solely to cause Aleksander some angst. Don’t worry. It will be a Darklina ending.
Chapter 1 is a missing scene at the end of Ep 4, and Chapter 2 takes place alongside Ep 5 and then diverges from canon there.

Warnings: Grisha are oppressed in this universe, and I don’t shy away from showing the horrors of that. It’s not the focus, but that backdrop is definitely there and comes up as characters discuss their past.

Author's Notes: Written for spankedbyspike. She requested “I like how well you do angst. Could you imagine yourself writing a story in which Dean is set to get his first paddling and arguing with his Daddy that Mommy would never had done something like this (you know using an implement on her poor sons) and see how John process the thought (maybe remember key moments with Mary), manages to reassure his son of his love and still paddles him?” It’s not exactly what you asked for. It is, however, what Dean insisted to me would happen in this scenario. I hope you like it. It is at least very angsty. This work is also heavily inspired by the Supernatural Origins comic books.

So what does everyone think of this icon? I'm trying to get a hurt!emotional!Dean. It's a work in progress, but I could use some feedback. I really love this scene in "Devil's Trap" and want to capture a bit of that Dean trying to hold himself together moment.
