As 2025 comes to an end, we already may take a brief review on our training-activities.

Doing so, we notice that the diversity of our participants has been growing throughout the year.

For example: Apart from all trainings “Ship Handling” and “BRM”, the increasing number of pilot trainings is remarkable, most of the time a combination of SH and BRM-P (BRM for Pilots), but sometimes even “Train the pilot-trainer”!

Among others, this year we accommodated pilots from Vietnam, St. Maarten, Sri Lanka, Curacao, and Brazil.

As vessels are becoming larger, heavier, deeper and less maneuverable sometimes different and new manoeuvres are needed. Especially when ports or docks are not bigger or when circumstances are getting more challenging.

Another aspect is the experience of the master and crews, or to say, “lack of experience.”

To be honest, it must be noted, nowadays officers are from all areas around the world with sometimes a minimal trainings-level.

Resulting in masters which are not always prepared for the job.

The future on manning ships doesn’t look very well either, since internationally there is an expected shortage of 70.000 – 90.000 ship´s masters and officers in 2030. Which is only 4 years from now(!)

The decline of interest and quality of deck-officers and captains is something what has to be corrected. For safety, quality and environmental reason!

And that´s exactly what Simwave wants to help with: By offering more trainings for master-mariners and officers, but also provide high quality trainings for starting pilots as well as repetition trainings for pilots from all ports around the world.

Our aim is to inspire those people!

And remember, “It takes a pilot, to train a pilot!”
