Apartment hunting
Saw four apartments today. The two we found that we liked (one bedroom + den, living room, one bathroom, kitchen, etc...) on the same road in Pikesville, roughly a mile from each other. They are also the same price.
Brittany Luxury Apartments
Pros:
-- 1200 sq. foot and change
-- Nicely secluded but so close to the metro that it has its own access point
-- BEAUTIFUL kitchenette
-- Giant bedroom (16 1/2'x15 1/2')... and J has a GIANT bed
-- The layout was a little less cookie-cutter apartment
-- Large pet deposit but no monthly fee
-- Pretty woods around it
Cons:
-- Not available for another three weeks
-- About a mile from Reisterstown Road and all of my usual errands (which, not such a big deal, but the other place does have a better proximity)
-- Small exercise room (which is important to J)
The Estates
Pros:
-- Right next to a post office, two blocks from the bead shop
-- Right on the Reisterstown Rd bus route, a mile from the metro
-- We could move in immediately
-- Hardwood in kitchen, entry, and bathroom
-- Gated community
-- Fantastic exercise room
-- Water bill included in rent
Cons:
-- Not such a large bedroom (11'x15')... and J has a GIANT BED.
-- 938 sq. feet... same price as the Brittany but over 200 fewer sq feet
-- Hallways were sketch, but are being remodeled soon
-- $30/month for pets
-- Would have to get LAN line to activate the alarm system
They couldn't show us the exact model at the Brittany, so we're going back Wednesday. Then we'll probably make a decision.
