Xmen 2

Dude. DUDE.

Good God Damn.

I don't read comic books. I have no idea about half the references that the movie made. I just know that I was blown away.

The action sequences and stunts were amazing-- I just don't know how to describe it. It was a kickass movie with few discernible plot holes, good overall characterization (as based on the first movie), and a good sense of momentum. The pacing was great.

And good god DAMN, Hugh Jackman. Despite the horrid hair, I was absolulely turned to applesauce by the man. So, okay, maybe I have a thing for the loner with an attitude, but whoa. Hugh in a wifebeater drinking a beer. I might buy the DVD just for that. He's surpassed Angelina on my Hierarchy of Hot. He's now second below Eliza Dushku.

Thank god Cyclops sat most of the movie out. I dunno just how much of his prep-school jealousy I could handle.

Whoa. Rogue has boobs.

The actor who played Pyro annoyed the fuck out of me. He just seemed snotty, not genuine.

Jesus, Halle Berry. You wanted more money for that??

I love Sir Ian McKellen so so so much. Poor guy got shafted with the worst costume and made the best out of his role, turning Magneto into a 3D role. Plus, he's so damn cute.

Okay, so Famke Jensen (sp?) is growing on me.

Highlight of the movie: Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler. Dude kicks serious ass and is incredibly adorable. I loved the mutant/catholic conundrum. And the accent!!

Rebecca Romijn-Sta... I'm sorry, did you say something? I could only see breasts... guh.

Striker? Most boring villain ever. Plllbt.

Loved the "gay" parallel to Billy coming out as a mutant to his parents. I knew what his mom was going to say in advance... what all suburban, trying-to-be-liberal-and-failing mothers say: "Honey, have you tried not being..."

And Dark Phoenix!! I'm only vaguely aware of what that means, but I'm excited anyway! I totally want Jean Gray's powers.

The claws-vs.-claws fight had me wincing. Damn. And that chick was freaky with her man hands. I bet she'd be really cool without the whole mind-control deal.

The humor was pretty good. Lots of unexpected laughs. Lots of intentionally cheesy laughs.

Did I mention Hugh Jackman??

It was well worth the ticket- 2 solid hours of nonstop action-y goodness.

And slashers? I'm counting the days until there's Wolverine/Cyclops hurt comfort fic. Although I had my feelings about Storm/Jean Grey.
