Because I am crazy, but in that fun way...
I'm a big fan of Jane Austen. I've yet to read Persuasion, but I've loved everything else I've read of hers (well, perhaps 'loved' is a little bit strong for Mansfield Park), and one thing I particularly like is her use of letters to advance the story. Her characters write to one another with such care, and it's an art we've lost today.
I was wondering-- if any of you are also Austenphiles and also like to write letters, who'd be interested in doing a Jane Austen Letter Swap? Since it's just a letter (or very small parcel if you choose), this won't be confined to just my friendslist, so if you know somebody who'd want in, feel free to invite. Once we have a pool of volunteers, I can match up pairs, or even assign more than one penpal if you'd like. The idea is that you'd write a letter in a similar tone and formal language. Nice paper, care and thought and maybe decoration. It sort of sounds like my kind of loony fun.
Any takers?
