Papers!

New on the list of awesome stores in Albuquerque is Papers!, which is a shop specializing in... well, papers. Cards, letter paper, fountain pens, ink, sealing wax, wrapping paper, journals... you name it, with special Christina-tantalizing extras like Vosges chocolate and gorgeous candles. I wanted everything. I settled for a couple of notecards, more sealing wax, a few pieces of handmade paper to pose jewelry on, and a gift for Jason. Our 1 year is coming up next week and the appropriate gift is paper. I spent about 45 minutes in there with wanty-fingers. I will be stocking up on pretty stationery while I am here.

We had brunch at the Flying Star, which is this neat little cafe with a full newsstand and free wi-fi, and was therefore full to the brim with what I assumed were students from UNM. I had the breakfast burrito with avocado, red chilies, and sausage... YUM. Very tempting was the dessert case, which boasted decadent chocolate cakes, fruit-laden pastries, and a succulent-looking carrot cake. I dropped a not so subtle hint to the boy that I will be grumpypants around Tuesday for biological reasons, and that a slice of chocolate raspberry cake would make a suitable placation.

After that was a bunch of odds and ends errand runs-- J needed new work pants and wanted to drool over some hi-def tvs at Best Buy. Came back, wrote some notes, set up a family-friendly ABQ blog for our parents, and am now preparing to go out for dinner to welcome Greg to ABQ. Michelle left yesterday.

One other note from the weekend: a hearty THANK YOU for the peeps at albuquerque who recommended I ♥ Sushi. We went there on Friday and it was DEEEELICIOUS. We had the Burrito Roll (crab, avocado, egg roll shell), the New Mexico roll (lobster and green chilies), the Philadelphia, the California, and a spicy tuna. All of that, plus two drinks and a glass of wine, for $36. Exxxxcellent. We will, of course, check out the other recommendations, but this one was stellar.

I still have more pics to upload to our Flickr photostream (including yummy Old Bay chicken), but I have put up a few of Jason's pics from Taos. So majestic!
