BSG!

Heh. I said it was Ellen. Kinda anti-climactic, but it makes sense.

Somebody really needs to do a BSG cosmology timeline for me, because my brain can't seem to grasp all of this.

So... Everybody started off on Kobol-- or at least that's where the written history for the show places the genesis of "humanity." There was a thirteen-tribe diaspora from Kobol-- the twelve colonies and the thirteenth ('cylon') colony on Earth. At some point, Earth is hit by a nuclear holocaust. Flash forward 2,000 years. Seven "human"-made mechanical skinjob "cylons" decide to eradicate the twelve colonies. An additional four (or five) cylons who seem to not be mechanically created 'wake up' and start remembering the events of the 13th cylon colony on Earth. I think I got all of that, and from that I can extrapolate:

-- That most of 'humanity' is probably part 'cylon'-- at least part of whatever the Final Five are, genetically, due to their shared origin on Kobol.

-- So... going with that... 2000 years later, cylon/human genetic hybrids ("humanity") created mechanical cylons / skinjobs.

-- Mechanical cylons / skinjobs created NEW hybrids, blending themselves with what had come to be known as humanity.

-- Kara Thrace therefore is the harbinger of the end of humanity. Because they're not technically "human," and the dawning of that realization is an end of humanity in a kind of way.

So, basically-- it's just dilution of a bloodline / evolution. But that still doesn't explain what makes the final five different (aside from regeneration) or why the seven 'skinjob' cylons consider them to be part of a definitive 12 models. At this point, 'cylon' seems to be a pretty broad term. And I wonder what made the Final Five so special that they alone regenerated after the entire planet got nuked.

That said, my theory is that the final five go through a born/live/die/reborn/repeat cycle. But they retain memories of Earth in them. I wonder if Starbuck is part of the ancestral line of one of the Final Fives during one of their lifetimes, and she's retained the regeneration gene?

Aside from that...

DEE. OMG. I was like O-O. And Gaeta. Oh god, Gaeta needs a big hug.

And Adama. And Roslin. WHY DO THESE PEOPLE NOT HAVE EMMYS?

AND STARBUCK FREAKING LEOBEN OUT.

'Scuse me, I am CAPSLOCKY.

But on another point: how did Baltar know that the bones were Cylon?

SHOW, I NEED ANSWERS AND I AM NOT A PATIENT PERSON!

ETA: I think the show is going to end on a return to Kobol. It would fit in with "it has all happened before," plus the integrated fleet of cylons and humans would set the stage for another diaspora. If there's a big reset every several thousand years, Earth might be habitable again by the time there's another diaspora. And Kobol already houses the coordinates to Earth in the Temple of Athena.
