FaerieCon Weekend Roundup

Back from the Con. Sleeeeeeeeeepy. A quick rundown:

Friday
-- Met up with Jess after work; got caught up on four years of lost time.
-- All the streets to our hotel were closed. We drove around the same block for an hour until we could find a back alley big enough to squeeze the car through so we could park.
-- While getting dressed for the ball to which we were already two hours late, the fire alarm went off and we had to evacuate.
-- We finally got to the ball around 10:30.
-- Good Faeries was quiet-ish. I spent most of it catching the end of the Gypsy Nomads set.
-- Saw Bart and the lovely Brandie. GUH. That woman. That corset. PERFECT together. I was kinda lusty about it.
-- 1am came too soon.

Saturday
-- After an Amish breakfast at the market, we got to the Con around noon.
-- The business seminar got rescheduled and sadly, I missed it.
-- Got to see Jen of Parrish Relics and the lovely Lisa! They were gorgeous at the Fashion Show. Lisa did a fantastic job with the gowns and we all know how I feel about Jen's jewelry. :)
-- Speaking of the fashion show... um. Okay, this is my own personal nit to pick, but fetishwear that shows your asscheeks is not appropriate when there are children watching. There were some genuinely stunning creations (I want EVERYTHING by Skin Graft), but there were also a few ensembles that were not at all appropriate for the atmosphere. And when I say that, you know there's an issue. Save it for an 18+ event; it's not that hard.
-- Tried on and bought a Skin Graft vest in olive green with leather spikes sewn into the back. Tried on one of the holster belts... will be putting one on layaway.
-- Said hello to the gorgeous Holly Black when Jess went to get her book signed.
-- Got ears on! :)
-- Jess bought a corset from Thomas and the stunning Maelstromme of Brute Force Leather. I basically played dress up with her all weekend. I should think about being a personal stylist or something.
-- Got my makeup done by Kate at ElfSTRUCK!/ faerie_makeup. She recognized my jewelry (!) and offered me a services-for-gift-certificate trade. :) She did an excellent job.
-- The locals looked at us like we were totally crazy all weekend. Except for the one older gay man who basically fawned. It was cute.
-- I tried on a bunch of outfits for the ball-- and sent cameraphone pics to the boy for vetting. I ended up going in bellydance clothes because I wanted to dance a lot. It ended up being a wise decision.
-- Went to the Bad Faeries Ball and danced a lot. It was a bit slow at first so I was just like, "Dammit, I'm dancing to a flute solo. Booyah." And then Qntal really picked it up. :)
-- Spent part of the night chatting with two gents who might be coming down to MDRF this weekend. I find it hilarious that of everyone at the ball, Jess ended up flirting with the guy in the khakis and button-down.
-- Also met another nice gent by the name of River who worked at the Con. Cuuuuuute, too. Good dancer.
-- Got the opportunity to stay on after hours and chat with some staff and vendors. Kelly and Emilio of Woodland are very nice. I'll be sending the lovelies at Brute Force some samples.
-- Stumbled home a little after 3:30am.

Sunday
-- Rough morning. I can count on one hand how many times I've been hung over, and this was a doozy. I blame it on all the sugar in the drinks. I had a headache until the evening.
-- Got back to Baltimore around 12:30. Hastily gathered my things to vend at Arts in the Park.
-- Set up shop-- got some exposure and a couple of sales.
-- Came home, sort of braindead. I was running low on verbs and completely out of nouns. Jason cooked me dinner and then put me to sleep with a backrub.

All in all, my phone SUCKED and I am excited to be buying a new one this week. I used my camera for most pics because everything on my digital was fuzzy and dark. So I leave you with this pic until I see if anyone else got decent ones. Stupid cameraphone makin' me look like I've got no nose.
