Haaaaaairs.

Wow, work has been a nonstop stream today; I need a few minutes of downtime to sip my coffee and decompress before starting on my to-do list of four more things I am totally not going to finish.

Got a haircut yesterday-- went to Style and Charm in Ellicott City. Very nice salon-- very clean, very soothing. Could not get an appointment with Carlos on short notice, as he was booked, so I got a cut from another stylist (Theresa?) instead. It's a good haircut, not gonna lie. But wow, hair snobbery to the extreme. I get that my hair is color damaged. I have committed the cardinal sin of hair snobbery by box-dyeing it, blah blah blah. I told you that when I came in during our consult. The ends are very brittle, hence me wanting them trimmed off. I do not need to repeatedly be taken to task over the course of 45 minutes for having damaged hair. The whole reason I am paying you $$$ is to cut off said damaged hair. Helpful tips are one thing, but a constant stream of critique in the middle of a busy salon does not make me want to continue to pay you that $$$. The experience just as valuable as the actual cut for me.

So now, I have a list of things to do. No more brushing it, she says. Um, I'll finger style it and all, but I need to freaking brush my hair in the morning unless I want a rat's nest. No more ponytails when wet. I can deal with that. Protein and deep-conditioning treatments twice a month from here on out (yes, I bought the $26 conditioner to appease her). Only doing the roots until I get a professional red done (guess I'll be blonde for awhile). Jason said he could tell I was getting irritated when I started giving one word answers. She cut his hair too-- it also looks pretty good.

As miffed as I was about her approach, I am willing to give her a second shot to see if maybe it was just a cranky day for one or both of us. I've also decided to go for something more extreme. I've had long hair for about three years now, and am craving a change. I'm going to go really short in the back, and longer in the front. Sort of an Aeon Fluxx meets Victoria Beckham-y thing. Something with some shape that will also conveniently cut off all the damaged parts entirely. Time for a change.

Tonight: so excited to go home and cook dinner, then watch movies while I work on commissions. I am frustrated and need a creative outlet to work everything out. And I might have found a supplier for a very limited run of Autumn's Gift necklaces. We'll see. Cross your fingers.
