Smallish update on the horizon.
Virgo::"The job of the newspaper is to comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable," said journalist Finley Peter Dunne. In that spirit, Virgo, here are your assignments for the coming week: 1. Critique and question and agitate the parts of yourself that are complacent or addicted to convenience. 2. Give help, sympathy, and encouragement to the parts of yourself that are off-center or out-of-focus. 3. Shake up the static, habit-entranced situations you see around you. 4. Be generous and creative with those who are suffering.
In other words, stop buying lunch all the time and start planning ahead. I'm not someone who likes to cook, and I sincerely doubt this will ever change. I don't mind cooking for friends when they come over-- that's fine. But for myself? Pssht. I'd rather eat some chevre on crackers for dinner than turn on the stove. No, I don't want your quick recipes. I don't want to hear how easy it is. It's not something I enjoy, and it's rare that I think ahead of time and plan out meals for the week. This is something that needs to change from a money management standpoint, as getting older means more expenses and I'm eventually gonna want to divert that cash.
Aside from that, look for a small Sihaya Designs update tomorrow. 22 completed items; I have several more in bits and pieces or that I think need more tinkering. I took some time off from doing clockwork bits, but there are more coming, along with big chunky necklaces in the next update, as well as two charity auction pieces that I will link to-- one for the Boston area Rape Crisis Center, and one for MD Shimmies for the Cure, to benefit Leukemia and Lymphoma research. I've been in NRE-land for 2 months now, and things are starting to settle into a comfortable rhythm. I hope to be crafting all weekend.
Also, I've felt so comfy this week. I've been wearing lots of floaty skirts, including silk sari skirts, which are just gorgeous and lightweight. I have three-- I'll be eBaying more. The only way, I've decided, to survive a sticky, humid, Baltimore summer is by dressing like a Bohemian princess.
And-- because I know I've been a total scatterbrain-- if I owe you an email about something, poke me and I promise to get back to you tonight.
Danke,
The Management
