My weekend...

Theater formal, chilling out chez Rac, and mon anniversaire.

Rac and I got together Friday night to prepare for the formal. She wore my black, strapless 40's-ish dress with subtle sparklies and a thigh-slit. I wore a black 20's-ish fishtail dress with rhinestone accent and a plunging neckline. Marie helped me put my hair up in a french twist (ooh, gee, should I be pc and say "freedom twist" now? *rolls eyes*) and secured it with this awesome silver leaf pin that reminded me of the ones in Lord of the Rings. I did Rac's makeup in soft pinks and metallic golds, and decided to go classic with my true red lips and lots of mascara.

Dave showed up with flowers for Rac, and then Mike, looking quite fine. Photo-op and all. The dance was interesting. We arrived fairly on time, which was apparently a no-no, as the theater people had just gotten out of rehearsal, and no one was there yet. Including the dj. So, we left and came back. When we came back, it was much better, with the dancefloor and the music. Some nice sangria loosened me up a bit (and note to self: no more scotch and coke. Ever.) and the rest of the night was pleasant enough. Rac and I spent a good portion of it being sexay biotches on the floor, and I got both of the songs that Mike and I consider "ours" to be played- "Your Song," by Elton John, and "Love Song" by the Cure. It was like the whole workd faded and there was just the movement of the dance, and me singing every word into his ear. It was nice.

Before the end, they switched to the Chicago soundtrack, and everyone started Cellblock tangoing. I completely made up a tango and danced with Andrew, complete with jumps and all. Well, so he dropped me once, but the second time was fine. By that time, we were all pleasantly not really caring how rediculous we looked. :)

Afterwards, there was our usual Denny's run, and eggs at 2 am. By then, my feet were killing me, and Mike took me back to my room and rubbed my feet until we fell asleep.

The next morning was lovely, with the extended lazing and our Sunday ritual of just chilling. The latter half, I spent at Rac's watching Sci-Fi's Children of Dune, which I must say I liked ever so much more than their adaptation of Dune. This miniseries actually adapted the second and third books in the series and stayed very close to the text, which is the number one thing that I hated about the first miniseries. The acting was notably better (with the exception of the guy playing Stilgar), and I just decided to suck up and deal that they casted a blonde Paul. Racheal fell promptly in lust with they guy playing Leto II, and I cackled with malevolent glee at her disgust as he began his change.

Yeaterday was my two year anniversary with Mike, and we went out to Macaroni Grill to celebrate. They have an incredible house Chianti there, and we had pesto ravioli formaggi and a sampler tray of desserts (including Tiramisu, which we had shared on our first date). I'd given him a designer's lexicon for his new job and a letter, as is the tradition, and he gave me Queer as Folk season 2 on DVD and a small journal he'd begun with a bunch of his old sketches in it and such. I'm supposed to complete the second half as a journal, and we'll go back and forth in halves.

We came back to my room and fell asleep in my bed, curled up around each other until he woke up at midnight and realized that he should get going. We had a very nice evening.

...and it has stopped snowing, and the sun is out. I must repeat, WTF?? Mother Nature's going schizo.

That's all for now... I'm off to do some reading before I go on duty tonight.

Ta.
