Whee!
This weekend, I accomplished four things of awesomeness:
In other words, it was pretty much the miracle weekend.
The Biz: If you got a commission from me, it will be on its way in the next 24 hours. I also played around with some neat rosy copper and the supplies I ordered from E2 Supplies. I'm in love with their handmade earwires. They're stylish, less likely to fall out of your ears than French hooks, and really comfy (why yes, I made a pair for myself, why do you ask?) Also, I discovered that the jewelry supply store near to my house now carries silver wire and chain for superawesome prices. And, uh, I hope you guys like labradorite, 'cause there's a landslide of it coming in my next update. After which I want to get really rolling on that charity project. Ooh, and I also had a great exchange with one of my clients-- I always love face-to-face meet and greets.
The Concert: Saw Gaelic Storm at the Recher Theater in Towson. Had many hard ciders, danced like a wild thing with
tamnonlinear. Highlights: they did 'Scalliwag,' 'Beggarman,' and a new-and-improved encore of 'Johnny Tarr' in other genres. Last time, we were treated to the Alanis Morrisette version; this time we got Kenny Chesney, Jimmy Buffett, Snoop Dogg, and Neil Diamond. The band was rowdy and charismatic-- and closing with 'Kiss Me, I'm Irish,' was a great touch. And the piper? Oh man, so preeetty. And not just 'cause I'm the type of girl who finds bagpipes unbearably sexy. But overall: there was great energy in the crowd-- I love it when an audience bonds together and starts to move as one, all connecting to great live music.
The Performance: Danced an improv set with my teacher, Lyra, and Thalia at the All Seasons Hafla at the Spice Cafe in Towson. Music choices: Maduro and 'Boyz' by M.I.A. Set went smoothly-- it felt like it went by in barely a minute. There should be pictures (and maybe video?) later this week. As for the other dancers: my former class at Avalon performed, and they did really well with their people-to-space ratio, all things considered. They looked like they were having a good time, and Meredith rocked with her sassy self. Lyra did a last-minute solo set because one of the other performershad car troubles was eaten by tigers, and ended up doing a live drum solo after the house had massive technical difficulties. I was also lucky enough to see Miasia perform, 'cause that lady can work a crowd.
The Sleep: Oh man. I feel SO good today. I got 10 hours of sleep last night, and took naps intermittently throughout the weekend. My body is very, very happy to have caught up.
1. All commissions are done! And ready to be sent out!
2. Went to a great concert-- sang along loudly and danced like mad.
3. Had a solid bellydance performance.
4. I got a lot of sleep.
