Le weekend

Friday:

Came home, made myself dinner, curled up with a book. Fell asleep on the couch; slept 12 hours.

Saturday:

Dance class, bead-shopping, working. I am down to ONE commission after having a breakthrough on the Vespa cap commision-- I did a dance around my room. I am not even kidding. Also made a neat necklace with watch gears and a working clock, for those who, like me, don't often wear watches. This one is in copper, but I can do gold or silver too, upon request.

Sunday:

Had bizarrely hot dreams, got up for a leisurely shower and breakfast, then went to DC with Julie. We made wonton soup the authentic Chinese way, had coffee and cake at Tryst, and then went to Tribal Cafe. Met up with gsh, reedrover, tamnonlinear, and James the LJ-less-- much love to Greg for snagging primo seating. The dancers were Naimah, who rocked the house with power shimmies, Karin (1/2 of Kassar) who had effortless grace and beautifully-incorporated folkloric stylings, and Belladonna of Romka. Bella brought the house down. I've seen her perform fairly often, and always thought she was a capable and proficient dancer-- last night, I finally went "wow!" She partnered up with Black Ink and Bass, and the first piece, a poem/bass/dance combination was truly stunning and man, do I want the text of and story behind that poem. What impressed me about her next two dances was not only the scary bit (double scimitars on her head!), but also the gorgeous, fluid, understated bits. She was incredibly expressive, and playful at the right times. Beautiful performance. On the way home, Julie and I entertained each other with ghost stories. And, for the second time in a 72 hour period, I went to bed before 1 am. Miraculous!
