Snowday
Oh noes! The Evil White Sky Death (tm Abby) fell today! I was supposed to go see Cloverfield tonight at some sneak preview thingy, but we all agreed that as the weather was quickly turning sleety, it was a better idea to stay in. I'd been sneezing a lot anyway. So I came home, took a wonderful hot shower, and packed up the three orders that sold today. This involved me cursing at rubber stamps. A lot. It's so simple, and yet I managed to fudge it all up. Blar. Well, the packaging is a major step up-- white boxes, hot pink ribbon, and a custom logo sticker done by Max & Bella. Clean, but funky. After attempting with less than spectacular results to make my own thank you cards, I said screw that, and got online and ordered a set of professionally hand-made ones. Then I messaged Pink Lily Press to have a set of custom thank you tags made for me using their magnolia design. I also ordered an address stamp from Sweetpaperie. So, project: presentation is going very well indeed. Now, to stock up on hot pink ribbon trimmed in black.
Um, LJ Smith fans, in light of the recent fandom implosion, I might have bought some unicorn charms. Might. Purely speculative, of course. *whistles* Oooh, and I made some really cool vintage-y copper flower earrings! Fun! (Yes, I realize I have a one-track mind lately, why do you ask?)
Oh, and speaking of Etsy... after I break even on supplies and start making profit, I am rewarding myself with this bracelet. I have always loved that quote, and having it as a wearable item is brilliant.
Overall, I stayed in and chilled out 'cause I'm going to be overbooked for the next couple of weeks. And just as soon as I finish being superbusy, I'm heading back up to NYC for some quality time with
texmorgan. Who I keep forgetting to call. 'Cause I'm made of fail. We covered this, yes? Well. Today is my father's birthday and I remembered to call. Little victories.
What I have done is abuse my Netflix. I went on a period-piece extravaganza... very inspirational while I'm working. Let's see... I finished season 1 of Rome which I ended up loving and will see the second season. I'm two discs into The Tudors which I can't seem to stop watching even though it hits most of my bad acting and bad historical accuracy pet peeves. Jonathan Rhys Myers is pretty. Yeah, we get it. And playing King Henry VIII as a petulant spoiled child could have been a neat acting choice if only that weren't JRM's default acting style. Sara was reading a review that said he didn't so much phone in his performance as hand it to his assistant, who faxed it in. Yeah, pretty much. But... why did no one inform me of the incredible hotness that is Henry Cavill? Or Natalie Dormer, who looks freakishly like Maggie Gyllenhaall? And there is, of course, total costume porn going on. That's how I'm going to justify it.
I tried to watch Robin of Sherwood, but really couldn't get past the cheesy 80s-tasticness of it. Switched instead to the 2006 BBC Robin Hood, and instantly fell in tv-lust with the lead. Again, these people live in the most pristinely clean 12th century ever, and the costumes totally suck in this one, but I'm shallow, and need something playing in the background while I work, so it might as well feature pretty faces and cute British accents.
Plus, you know, Bravo constantly plays Project Runway and that new Make Me A Supermodel show, and I giggle because my heart is now brimming over with slightly-shameful Christian Siriano love, and Tyson Beckford is equal parts tool, cool guy I'd have a drink with, and Olmec from Nickelodeon's epic children's show, Legends of the Hidden Temple. Seriously, picture a giant talking stone head when he seriously deadpans "you... are safe" on panel, and I guarantee you'll laugh.
Overall, very much loving my vacation from social obligation. Ready to start being social again, but definitely aware that I need more creative downtime than I'd been previously allowing myself. Happy.
