Pinks and purples
Virgo: The U.K. newspaper The Independent reports that avid reader Mark Bastable consumed the collected works of D.H. Lawrence and found "not a single laugh, not a wry chuckle, not even a quiet grin in the entire po-faced oeuvre." If that's true, I say we put an asterisk on the covers of his books, similar to the mark that will go on the home run record of the allegedly steroid-enhanced baseball star Barry Bonds. In D.H.'s case, the asterisk will denote that he won a place in the literature hall of fame despite having never expressed the second-most essential human emotion. In any case, Virgo, don't you dare read Lawrence in the next four weeks. You need to be surrounded by influences that will encourage you to look for humor and amusement in every single thing you do.
My nights have pretty much been taken up by my creative pursuits of late. With Top Model in between seasons and Supernatural on such an odd schedule, I've had more weekday nights free. I miss the girls muchly, but am taking full advantage of pajama time. A couple of people have posted this link, but it bears repeating: Caring For Your Introvert. My inner introvert had gotten fairly neglected. This has the happy side effect of giving me extra cash to play with, and guess where that's gone? Straight into supplies. I just dropped $60 on 18 beads. Yeah, you read that right. Chalcedony is gorgeous, but very very expensive. In fact, I might eat ramen for the next couple of weeks, but a) my bills are paid, b) I have all the Netflix I can handle, c) patience is not a virtue I have, and d) I have lots of pieces and concepts sketched out in my inspiration journal. I feel very calm, very centered, generally very happy. I've also made a promise to myself to take one weekend "off" for hermiting every month.
Still plugging away at the Etsy update. My neckform is scheduled to arrive by Monday, so that's when I'll start photographing. I'm excited about the neckform-- I think it'll make things much, much easier to photograph, in general. I still have to devise something to hang earrings from, but I'm creative and will figure something out. But if I give myself two nights to photograph and two nights to crop/upload/write listings, I think the update should go up next Friday. For wave 1. I've got a lot of brass stuff coming in that will certainly comprise wave 2. And a small Valentine's Day collection. Also, 'cause it was time to start packaging professionally, I bought a bunch of white gift boxes with cotton inside, and I'm getting decorative stickers for the top of said boxes from Max and Bella. Yay for that.
Had a dream last night that I was specially chosen by NASA (or some futuristic variant thereof) to represent humanity on a voyage to some distant solar system in case we came in contact with an alien race. Then had a dream I was cast in some kind of ensemble comedy movie that won a Golden Globe. I think I wore the dress that Sweet P. created on last night's Project Runway. Cracktastic.
And I'm really craving my pink hair again. I think I'll wait until Spring to do it, but my dilemma: to cut in thick bangs or not?
