Beading thoughts
I made a really fun necklace tonight. Can't say what just yet, 'cause it's going in the re-launch of my Etsy store, but I'll just say that some of you Pre-Raphaelite fans will hopefully be just as happy with it as I am. My fingers are all blistery, though. Hand wiring takes a lot of patience, and it's time for me to get new chain-nose pliers. Mine are starting to wear out.
That said, I bought fun stuff today. Amethyst, garnet, paua shell, sterling silver. Still plan to drop some cash tomorrow at the bead shop for the usual findings. Sure, it's a lot of cash to be dropping at once, but I look at it like this: creating things makes me feel fulfilled. I get a sense of accomplishment every time I finish a piece and size it. When it clicks, it clicks. And I can look at what I'm making now and measure it up against what I made when I started, and I'm really happy. Plus, I'll make the money back when these pieces sell.
I have to say, I know that silver is the big thing that everybody wants, but I really wish more of you were into raw brass jewelry. I've been drooling over antiqued brass bits and bobs, and even made myself a really neat asymmetrical necklace out of vintage filigree flowers that matched the dress I wore this weekend very nicely and really capped off the classic look I put together. I think after I put the next batch of items up for sale when my Etsy shop reopens, I'm going to splurge on some brass and copper and make a bunch of funky, odd pieces.
Speaking of funky and odd... really fun challenge comin' down the pike. A mens' necklace featuring an endcap from a 1972 Vespa Rally 200. Should be interesting!
