Virgo: At Free Will Astrology, we love to turn things upside-down and inside-out every now and then. It keeps our mental hygiene sparkling clean, and yours, too. This week, in order to incite a purifying ruckus, we're offering you a challenge from psychologist James Hillman. Please suck the following thoughts into the deepest recesses of your understanding, and enjoy the brainstorms they detonate: "By accepting the idea that you are the effect of a subtle buffeting between hereditary and societal forces, you reduce yourself to a result. The more your life is accounted for by what already occurred in your chromosomes, by what your parents did or didn't do, and by your early years now long past, the more your biography is the story of a victim." What I'm trying to tell you, Virgo, is that it's a fine time to rebel against your genetic heritage, your upbringing, and your conditioning. Imagine a life for yourself in which you don't believe that those factors control what you're capable of.Hi, welcome to my counseling sessions. The whole dealie is about healing wounds caused by one's family of origin, not the least of which is my mother's fem-mullet. In related news, my father text messaged me that he loved me this morning.
Open House extravaganza continues apace at work. Nothing much to say there, 'cept I have to be at work until 8:30 tomorrow night, and if I miss part of Supernatural, I'mma be cranky. But! Related to SPN...
In the realm of Good Things: I sold two necklaces so far, I'm getting paid $100 to dog sit on Sunday, this week's paycheck should be Christmas Bonus-y, I'm feeling really creatively inspired, and the girls are coming over for shallow tv tonight. AND. I think I might have talked Bridget into entering into a hairstick endeavor with me. She's a woodcarver in her spare time (also does mobile pet grooming in MD-- see Pawsfurme.com), and she's making me a unique bowed hairstick for Christmas. I was testing the prototype last night, and she was talking about how easy it was to carve, and I was like, "O RLY." And so I might get her to do some unique hairsticks that I can then bead. You know, in my copious free time.
Plus! Surprise package from Tex. When he was over, he saw that my DVD collection included the first two LOTR extended editions, but not the third. And so I received a package from Amazon yesterday-- I now have a complete trilogy. Which is great... they are excellent to have on in the background while I bead. Thank you, babe! (Plus, there are cookies promised. Cookies with almonds and crumbly peppermint bits. I can hardly wait.)
And in conclusion, here's two random links:
