Brrrrrr.
So, yesterday was pretty much a crankytastic day. It was cold, work was tedious and full of interruptions, I was very tired, and PMS was setting in. All I wanted to do was go home, take a hot bath, and make myself grilled cheese and tomato soup. So I braved the cold, made it home, and drew a bath with a Lush Jingle Spells ballistic. Purple water full of sparkles and stars. I lay back and picked up a book. As if on cue, the power blew. Of course.
I hurried to wash my hair while we still had some hot water, then headed upstairs to light tealights in safe containers. I piled on the blankets and promptly fell asleep. When I woke up an hour later, the power was thankfully back on, but I felt really sick. I ate about half of my bowl of tomato soup, and a few bites of my cheesy bread. I considered just giving up and sleeping everything off. But I powered through and got a really nice necklace made (fire agate with hand wiring, antiqued glass, and autumn jasper beading) and got a start on an earring commission. Tex kept me e-company as I was cheered up by the Victoria's Secret fashion show. So today, I am trying to focus on the positive.
The Positive:
-- Even though it's ridiculously cold outside, it's at least snowing. That counts for something.
-- I found and bought a backup dress for this weekend's soirée. I actually got to try on the dress that I was going to buy, and I wasn't impressed with the material. The color was perfect, but it just didn't have enough movement. Then I tried on about 30 dresses and despaired at how no one makes dresses for actual womens' bodies anymore. What is with all of the random fabric pooching? And hello? My natural waist is not 1" below my boobs. All of this random high-waisting is totally hideous. I actually ended up buying something floor-length-- vaguely Grecian and elegant in an interesting purple shade. I also got the girliest pair of shoes I have ever seen-- silver sequinned starlet-style strappy formal sandals on a 3 1/2" heel.
-- I had a Tex this weekend! He came down to see my performance and we were otherwise generally lazy. It was nice.
-- Good coffee and a donut for breakfast. Mmm, sugar and caffeine.
-- I love my Sock Dreams armwarmers. And now the grape marl is back in stock. I must have them. Also, I have to give a rave review for Biella's slipper socks and also the O Yummies. I only picked up two pair for myself in my Giftmas order, but I definitely see a sock splurge coming.
-- NYC this weekend!
