Le weekend
Let's see... Friday night, Ariel and I headed down to Grand Central to meet up with our high school friend Stephen and his boyfriend, Larry. Yay for dancing, and playing around with popping and locking in a place where I can't possibly be the whitest looking person on the dancefloor. It's freeing. Also, I love that all the cute gay men wanted to dance with me. The women weren't quite as forward as last time, thankfully, though the evening's "I'm saying hi by grabbing your crotch" came in the form of one Yasmina. SRSLY, people-- is this the new protocol? You see someone cute, you put your hands in unmentionable places without asking? Ugh. Anyway, I laughed that Sapphos Lounge played Melissa Etheridge all night. I mean, really? Come on, people. I love her as much as the next queer chick, but there are other gay musicians out there, I swear.
Saturday, after my day of awesomeness, Ariel and I headed down to Fell's Point to meet
texmorgan and
leeecon at DuClaw. First off? Holy crap, Tex is ginormous! Taller than Jared Padalecki. Wrap your head around that for a sec. I was wearing 4" heels and barely came up to his shoulder. Well. At least I didn't have a hard time finding him! :) We stayed there for awhile and mocked the women who are still mentally and socially in high school, and the men who think they can get with 'em, such as one guy whose hair called to mind Ace Ventura, Pet Detective, and we weren't totally sure whether or not it was part of a costume.
From there, we headed to The Waterfront so Lee could find menfolk to flirt with, and we ran into Jenny, who apparently moonlights as Barely There Riding Hood. And when she's drunk, boy is she honest. So... that was an interesting conversation. :) Ariel then gave her a lift to her next destination while I went home with Lee and Tex to bake 2am cookies. Butterscotch, semi-sweet, and white chocolates. Fed to me warm straight from the oven. Best cookies evar.
The next morning we went back to The Waterfront for awesome brunch, hung around and watched The Omen, then headed to Max's to watch the Patriots completely annihilate the Redskins. We played some pool (while I'm not great at pool, I rule at distraction pool!), and chilled out for the World Series while Lee went in search of menfolk. Overall, it was a great time.
Last night, I had some chill time. I made myself grilled cheese and watched O Brother Where Art Thou and looked for pics for a new layout. I'm thinking something along the lines of a lantern at twilight-- soft dark blues. Lines about being a light in the darkness, that sort of thing. So far, no luck. But I'm tired of the current layout. I got an acupuncture treatment (14 needles in my back) and blissfully passed out, waking up without anxiety. Good stuff.
