Giant BPAL Update!

Lunacies, Good Omens, Stardust... my thoughts under the cut!

A Little Lunacy

Red Moon:: Our blend for this Moon mixes traditional lunar oils with the warmth of amber, red musk, and heliotrope, the russet haze of dragon's blood resin, sunflower, and crushed orange peel, with a dusting of summertime herbs: chamomile, rue, elder flower and marigold.
Seems similar to the last Red Moon, which was very interesting, but not my thing. Dragon's blood isn't my favorite, and I tend not to be drawn to most orange scents, either.

Allison Gross:: Witch-herbs, crushed golden flowers, and a man-made-dragon’s surly musk lightened by the scent of the blossoms and unearthly incense that clings to the Faerie Queen’s hair. Dragon’s blood musk, ambergris, sunflower, chrysanthemum, muguet, and rue, with gingered lily, moonflower, bluebell, peony, nightwort, and white rose.
TORN. On one hand-- faeries! Dark faeries! On the other... more dragon's blood. Also lily. Hmm. Decant.

Limited Edition

Leo: Egyptian amber, walnut bark, chamomile, frankincense, and saffron.
Nope, not a Leo.

The Sportive Sun:: Heliotrope, amber, almond flower, frangipani, cedar, and calamus.
Oooh. I don't know what it is that says 'ooh,' 'cause almond is usually sickly on me, but I have a hunch that this will be nice. Reviews!

The Gibbous Moon:: Moonflower, Madonna lily, orris, white ginger, cucumber, hyacinth, and Irish moss.
Gibbous moon is my favorite lunar phase of all. I like all the notes but that dang lily. Hmm. Decant.

Good Omens

Agnes Nutter:: Gunpowder, charred wood, smoke, and rusty nails.
The prototype of this was supposed to be all Shub-y. I guess they revised after getting Neil & Terry's input, it changed. An interesting concept, worth a sniff. But not something I could see myself wearing.

Aziraphale:: Ethereal musk, blonde woods, and dusty Bible accord.
Innnnteresting. Not for me, likely, but interesting.

Crowley:: Infernal musk, red patchouli, lilac cologne, mahogany, lemon rind, oakmoss, leather, and vanilla husk.
Skyler? You listening, babe? THIS ONE.

Shadwell:: Roll-ups, mildewed raincoat, sweet tea, and condensed milk.
Yech? Is that a good enough reaction? True to the book, but... eugh.

War:: Red ginger, black spices, patchouli, honeysuckle, and three blood-soaked red musks.
Yum. Sounds like Blood Moon + spices. I'm there.

Stardust

Fairy Market:: Otherworldy golden incense, blooming wind-flowers, everlasting lavender, bluebell, a faint whiff of exotic sugared candies, and fae mist upon wet green grass.
Err. Yes. This one has "buy me, Christina!" stamped all over it.

Tristran:: redwood, tonka bean, white sandalwood, lemon peel, patchouli, rosewood, coriander, and crushed mint.
Not really for me.

Victoria:: Graceful vanilla musk, tea rose, and stargazer lily.
Oh how I wish Stargazer lily didn't turn to soap on me.

The Witch Queen:: Wild plum, red musk, tuberose, calla lily, heliotrope, pimento, ylang ylang and beeswax beneath a dark haze of sinister purple-hued incense smoke.
Evil(er) Morgause? Maybe, but it's not screaming my name.

Yvaine:: The high, crystalline scent of a star-filled night with blue lavender and lush magnolia.
As a concept, it sounds gorgeous. In practice, lavender doesn't usually do it for me, and magnolia can get overbearing.

And for some thoughts on recent scents I've tried:

Aizen-Myoo:: I LOVE THIS. Really. It's got satsuma, yuzu, cherry blossom--- it's a beautifully done fruity scent that is pefect for the summer, even during the day. It's got a light, fresh, clean feel to it that just works beautifully. A definite recommendation.

Selkie:: Marshy and ozone-y. Smelled pretty in the bottle, but went straight to soap on my skin and faded quickly.

Thunder Moon:: Wow! Very ozoney! Reminds me a lot of Thunderbird and also Storm Moon. Not really my thing, but well done.

Hermia:: Pretty and very bright. The pink pepper is very strong, balancing out the nectary sweetness of the passion fruit. The amber rounds it out and warms it up. Very nice.
