Mid-pink update.
Hello, hello, this is your mid-pinking update, brought to you by my veggie chicken tenders and my very pink middle fingernail. I used up all the bleach getting my roots to a light blonde, a spot check here and there at the tips. I currently have a head covered in a tub and a half of Hot Hot Pink, and I've spot-checked the bathroom for stray drops. I did pretty well this time, partially due to my brilliant idea of covering EVERYTHING in newsprint.
Practice with Flissy went well today-- we did some lead and follow and cataloged the list of moves we know. She shared some of the stuff she learned in her workshops, and I shared some moves as well. We stumbled upon some interesting combos to test out, and I took notes on stuff I'd forgotten to practice. We chose Bjork's "Earth Intruders" for the Kallisti Bastille Day hafla, and we're gonna start parsing it out on Friday. The cool thing about that song is that it's got a very strong beat, and one that's syncopated and good for Tribal, but it's also got a lot of elegant, flowy things going on, too. And cute xylophone interludes that I think we'll use as solos. Anyway, we got a lot done, and talked about costuming, and overall, I feel like we have somewhere to go with this instead of "OMG PANIC." Which-- yeah, I'll be working my ass off for the next month or so, but that's fine with me. Kinda bummed that I'm too busy to take Asharah's upcoming classes even if I did have a car, but I worked out an arrangement with Sky that will let me drop in a few times after my schedule calms down mid-July. So that's good.
On the beading front, I ordered some hairsticks to play around with and potentially sell a couple of trial pairs. I found some cool stuff for Autumn jewelry, so I'll likely order them towards the beginning of August so that I can offer them around September. Fall will also bring Persephone & Demeter, and Persephone is going to be lovely. This interpretation is not of Persephone as the Goddess of Spring, but rather Persephone as Queen of the Underworld. I acquired some big russet carnelians that look like very much like pomegranate seeds. It will be very warm red and burnished copper gold.
For all of you playing the home game, yep-- I had my first pang of "mmm, I miss Autumn" today. In June. So... yeah, that's about right, actually. But this Summer, I'm going to do my best to relax, create a lot of art, dance, and enjoy the warm weather. As much as I long for Autumn, I always forget that it's so quickly followed by ice!
