Not one more penny.

I love my LJ. I met some of my closest friends-- RL and online-- through LJ. I update spaztastically. I extoll(ed) the virtues of LJ near and far.

But.

When my paid account expires in October, I will not be renewing, unless LJ Administration addresses, redresses, and places in effect a plan to prevent any further negligent, myopic shenanigans. There's a pan-fandom effort brewing to hit 'em where it hurts-- right in the wallet. Canceling a paid account for one person probably won't hurt 'em. Poor numbers in the upcoming permanent account sale will twinge. But thousands of fans with lots of shiny disposable income moving on to greener pastures? Yeah. Ow. You get the picture.

Don't misunderstand me-- there should be no place for child predators on LJ. Absolutely not. But in the recent rash of deletions, there have been rape and incest survivor journals, fandom journals, and even Nabokov discussion groups deleted with no warning. What if the target keywords were "BDSM" or "homosexuality" or any number of other kinks? How many of us would have been snuffed out?

There is a difference between planning or enacting illegal activity and the discussion of things that might squick ya. The lack of discernment, and indeed, the lack of word from SixApart is appalling. 55 pages of complaints and counting on the news page. Not a peep from the Brass.

We'll see how this one turns out. I'll tell you one thing, though. I sure as hell can live without extra userpics.

Oh, and-- for those of you who haven't joined-- fandom_counts!
