Stolen from Sabine42, who stole from...

1. Hardback, trade paperback or mass market paperback?
Usually paperbacks, but hardbacks when there's something new from one of my favorite authors.

2. Barnes & Noble or Borders?
Whatever's around. Most likely, Amazon used.

3. Bookmark or dog-ear?
Both, depending. I'm more likely to dog-ear older books. Other than that, I always buy bookmarks, but forget to use them and use post-its instead!

4. Amazon or brick and mortar?
Both. Amazon when I know what I'm looking for, brick and mortar if I'm browsing and have more money to spend!

5. Alphabetize by author or alphabetize by title or random?
I have a separate shelf for my Pagan books, but other than that, I don't really alphabetize.

6. Keep, throw away, or sell?
Keep most of 'em, unless a book is boring or particularly heinous. Then I give it out with warning or toss it in a bookbin.

7. Keep dust jacket or toss it?
Keep it, but sometimes lose it.

8. Read with dust jacket or remove it?
Remove it, usually.

9. Short story or novel?
I like both, but I read a lot of short stories 'cause they're more metro-friendly.

10. Harry Potter or Lemony Snicket?
Haven't read either, and won't until HP is finished and people stop asking "OMG, YOU HAVEN'T READ HARRY POTTER??1?" No, I haven't, and I'm tired of justifying it. It's not the end of the world, so suck it up and deal. (Why yes, this is a sore point, why do you ask?)

11. Stop reading when tired or at chapter breaks?
Wherever I've gotta stop.

12. "It was a dark and stormy night" or "Once upon a time"?
Either or, depending on mood.

13. Buy or borrow? New or Used?
Both, and both.

14. Buying choice: book reviews, recommendations, or browse?
All of the above, check.

15. Tidy ending or cliffhanger?
Tidy. I hate cliffhangers unless I've got the next book already on hand.

16. Morning reading, afternoon reading, or night-time reading?
Sunday morning in the bathtub reading.

17. Stand-alone or series?
Either or. I like good series.

18. Favorite series?
Dune, probably.

19. Favorite children's book?
Me and the Babysitters Club were BFF, yo.

20. Favorite YA book?
My YA taste has changed over time. I now like Holly Black's Tithe and Emma Bull's War For The Oaks. Francesca Lia Block's short story collections... well written dark urban fantasy/speculative fic. Growing up, I loved LJ Smith and Christopher Pike (The Midnight Club, Master of Murder, pretty much everything).

21. Favorite book of which nobody else has heard?
When I was a teen, I loved Vivian Vande Velde's Companions of the Night, and I don't think anyone else I know has read it.

22. Favorite books read last year?
Fragile Things, Mortal Love.

23. Favorite books of all time?
Waking the Moon, Dune, This Picture of Dorian Grey.

24. Least favorite book you finished last year?
I don't know WHY I picked up a Laurell K. Hamilton book, but I needed eyebleach afterwards. Really, it was that bad.

25. What are you reading right now?
Re-reading Tithe by Holly Black, because...

26. What are you reading next?
...I'm about to acquire Ironside.

27. Favorite book to recommend to an eleven-year-old?
The Bridge To Terebithia. 'Cause I'm sadistic like that.

28. Favorite book to reread?
Waking the Moon by Elizabeth hand, which I reread once a year. Plus I tend to re-read LJ Smith's The Vampire Diaries #1-3 every fall. Nostalgia.

29. Do you ever smell books?
Totally.

30. Do you ever read primary source documents?
If I'm doing research.

31. In the comments, recommend a book you like, or think I'd like.
