Lather, rinse...
Time, time, time. Where does it go? Really? I feel consumed by guilt-- that I haven't been making enough friend-time lately, and run down that I haven't been taking enough time for myself. All in all, I just feel behind. Behind in correspondence, behind in phone calls, behind in hanging out, behind in sleep. I've barely read my friendslist, and I feel disconnected. I feel like I'm being a crummy friend, 'cause I only have a moment here and there, and when I do, I can only manage to say the same things over and over-- I'm busy, I'm tired, I'm fine. But what I really feel is off-balance. This could be five hours of sleep talking, but it seems that I've been consistently cranky for the better part of the month even though my circumstances are largely improving. That's in large part, I think, because I've not been nourishing myself, and if I don't nourish myself, how can I hope to nourish anyone else?
Details: Jewelry packages are being readied to be sent out. Cards and postcards, too. One care package. I just have to find time to make it to the post office, and I'm wondering if that's going to happen before Saturday. Hopefully, but the case is that the closest PO is a half hour walk, and only open during the week when I'm strapped to my desk. There's a PO with an automated desk, so you can send packages after hours, but it's neither walking distance nor able to send internationally. Sara says that I should be able to use USPS online and fill out forms and pay for postage that way, so I'm going to look into that as soon as our internet comes back up (currently writing this in WordPad). It's impotant to me to get DC numbers after last month's postal fiasco.
I got one of my two supply orders in yesterday-- for reference, Fire Mountain Gems ships superquick. I also like their discount tiering. Bummed that I picked the wrong size of stringing wire and now need to go buy two spools of thinner wire at the store. Oh well, I'd needed more crimp beads anyway. Shipwreck Beads has more unique beads and a wider selection, but they take forever to ship unless you pick a pricey express option. That supply order is slated to arrive on April 30th. Anyone who's contacted me regarding a commission can expect your commission to be completed next week.
BPAL of the day: Milk Moon 2007:: And they came unto the brook of Eshcol, and cut down from thence a branch with one cluster of grapes, and they bare it between two upon a staff; and they brought of the pomegranates, and of the figs. The place was called the brook Eshcol, because of the cluster of grapes which the children of Israel cut down from thence. And they returned from searching of the land after forty days. And they went and came to Moses, and to Aaron, and to all the congregation of the children of Israel, unto the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and brought back word unto them, and unto all the congregation, and shewed them the fruit of the land. And they told him, and said, We came unto the land whither thou sentest us, and surely it floweth with milk and honey; and this is the fruit of it. A fertile scent, generous, life-affirming, and swelling with a sense of triumph, warmth, and abundance: sweet milk, golden honey, fig fruit, pomegranate, dates, and white grape.
On me, this certainly smells like the promised land. I smell the fig very predominantly-- it's a creamy fig that's a dead ringer for Eden (which makes sense, with them both being inspired by Judeo-Christian utopias and all), overlaid with the milk note of the first Milk Moon, and just a little bit of the white grape's acidity keeping this light, fresh, and spring-like. The honey note is not predominant, but links all the other notes together. It really is beautiful-- very round and womanly without being at all cloying. If your skin doesn't do milk notes, I'd suggest staying away from this one, but for me, this is a definite winner.
Note to self: get more Spring icons.
